About this ebook
Emilie has the worst Valentine’s Day ever—only to relive it over and over again. Perfect riotous romantic YA fiction where 50 First Dates meets Groundhog Day.
After living through a dumpster fire of a Valentine’s Day, Emilie escapes to her grandmother’s house for some comfort and a consolation pint of Ben & Jerry’s. She passes out on the couch, but when she wakes up, she’s back home in her own bed—and it’s Valentine’s Day all over again. And the next day? Another nightmare V-Day.
Emilie is stuck in some sort of time loop nightmare that she can’t wake up from as she re-watches her boyfriend, Josh, cheat on her day after day. Not only that but Emilie can’t get away from the enigmatic Nick, who she keeps running into—sometimes literally—in unfortunate ways.
How many days can one girl passively watch her life go up in flames? And when something good starts to come out of these terrible days, what happens when the universe stops doling out do-overs?

Reviews for The Do-Over

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This would have been five stars in the protagonist, who wasn't so damn annoying for a good bit of the book.Emilie is having the literal worst day ever. And it's Valentine's Day to boot. All she wanted was the perfect gift exchange and to say those three special words to her perfect boyfriend. Things do not go as she planned; they go abysmally wrong. Then they keep going wrong as Valentine's Day happens on repeat. Once she realizes she is caught in some insane timeloop, she tries to recreat the day to perfection in order to stop the loop. She just makes things worse. It takes her choosing a day of no consequences to finally break the lopp, but things definitely do not go back to normal.Emilie chasing after a guy that clearly jad a thing for his ex pissed me off to no end. It took her way too many repreats to realize what a waste it was. Other than that, this was a heart-wrenching yet heartwarming tale of falling in love for real.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5High school Junior Emily has found the perfect boyfriend in Josh and has decided to tell him she loves him on Valentine's day, but first the day gets off track when she rear ends her chemistry lab partner on the way to school and later sees Josh kissing his gorgeous ex-girlfriend. And then Valentine's day keeps repeating and nothing she can do changes these or other disasters in what was a pretty good life. So she decides she can do whatever she wants with no consequences and things get interesting.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I didn’t like her love interest - he was just too aloof and insensitive for meI was kind of hoping she was going to say screw those boys and have a summer with herself and her friends
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Emilie Hornby dreams about having the perfect Valentine’s day. Everything is ready and checked. She found the perfect gift and hope today will be the day where I love you will be exchanged. As a matter of fact, nothing goes as planned. And the young woman finds herself stuck in a time loop where Valentine’s Day happens again and again. For Emilie, it is a nightmare. For the reader, it is the opportunity to discover the heroine in different facets. It is a very enjoyable story. Super quick read. I really enjoyed it. Family, friendship and love are at the heart of the story. Even if the concept of the same day repeating itself again, and again, and again isn’t new (I am thinking about the movie Groundhog Day for exemple), Lynn Painter created a fresh and sensitive story, with a pinch of humor and a supernatural twist.
