ABSTRACT
The skill of spelling words correctly is a vital requirement of one’s ability to engage in written communication successfully. This study which is an action research set out to find a solution to the problem of spelling as identified with T.I Ahmadiyya Girls primary school. The research involved eighteen (18) pupils in the classroom using purposive sampling selection.The reseacher used data collection instruments such as observation and tests to gather his information.Findings of the present study indicated that 33% of the pupils passed in the pre-test and after the intervention process was taken ,72% of the pupils passed in the post test.The results also revealed that,pupils could not spell simple words in English Language because of the following reasons:lack of appropriate teaching materials,inadequate practical activities to spelling and lack of motivation for pupils to appreciate spelling lessons.In conclusion, recommendations were made to the government and relevant stake holders in view of improving pupils' spelling ability .
