    Trin's breaths were shallow, her heart a rapid staccato against her ribs as she edged through the cramped ventilation duct of High Admiral Cross's flagship cruiser. The chill metal pressed against her cheek, the close air thick with the scent of ionized particles and recycled oxygen.
