JUDIT POLGÁR,
A QUEEN ON THE CHESSBOARD
––––––––
Judit Polgár was born in Hungary in 1976. From a very early age, she demonstrated an incredible love for chess. For her, that square board where intelligence is combined with strategy and patience, was the place she loved to inhabit. And Judit not only played chess, but she played it incredibly well!
When Judit was just five years old, her father taught her how to move the pieces on the board. And guess what? She learned quickly and began playing against her older sister, Susan, who was also a talented chess player. As she grew older, Judit became an amazing chess player. She competed in tournaments and won against players much older than her!
The interesting thing is that Judit had two sisters, Susan and Sofia, and all three were great at chess! Together, they formed a chess team of sorts, and the Polgar family became a household name throughout the chess world.
What made Judit even more special was that she was breaking barriers. At the time, most chess players were men, but Judit proved that didn't matter. She competed in tournaments where the majority were men and she beat them! This showed the world that girls can be just as good at chess as boys, and that everyone deserves equal opportunities.
One of the most exciting things Judit accomplished was to beat some of the best chess players in the world. She even beat world champions. Imagine someone who is like the best soccer player winning against world champions, it was truly amazing!
Judit Polgár's courage and skill inspired many people. She showed that with determination and practice, you can achieve incredible things. Her love for chess and her dedication changed the way people viewed the game, especially for girls. Judit proved that everyone can pursue their passions no matter who they are.
Judit Polgár remains a legend in the world of chess. Her story continues to inspire young chess players to believe in themselves and fight for what they love. Her legacy shows that chess is a game in which anyone can excel if they work hard and never give up.
ROSA PARKS,
ADVOCATE FOR EQUALITY
––––––––
Rosa Parks was a courageous pioneer who stood up for what she believed in. Her story would change the world and inspire millions.
She was born on February 4, 1913, in a small Alabama town. She was a curious and energetic child who loved to learn. She believed that everyone should be treated kindly and fairly, regardless of the color of their skin.
At that time, there were unjust laws that separated African Americans from whites. Rosa knew that those laws were wrong and she dreamed of a world where everyone would be treated equally. Little did she know that one day she would play an important role in the realization of that dream.
One fateful day, after a long day of work, Rosa boarded a bus to go home. The bus was crowded and Rosa occupied a seat in the center. But when the bus was full, the driver ordered Rosa to give up her seat to a white passenger. It was a common practice at the time, but Rosa was fed up with the injustice.
With a gleam in her eyes and fire in her heart, Rosa refused to give up her seat. She stood her ground, defying the unjust rules of segregation. Her courageous act sparked a revolution that would change history.
The news of Rosa's brave act spread like wildfire. People were inspired by her bravery and began to boycott Montgomery's buses. That is, they refused to ride the buses until the unjust laws were changed. It was a peaceful
