About this ebook
Fallen Angels! ... In turns they hit him and blindfolded him. "It's time to visit the crocodile zone." They drove to a helipad used by drug pushers and hidden in the island's interior. The chopper flew through the beach, deeper into the ocean to an area marked, "Danger Zone. Life Crocodiles. Don't mess around." The helicopter flew down lower and the whole reptile community stirred up. The chopper then went up again and with his hands tied they pushed him to his death. As Richie struggled in the air, tumbling and rolling, his hands broke loose from the ropes. The harsh coastal breeze flogging wickedly on him. All he did was call on the God of his mother. Almost half dead, he fell towards the waiting hungry open mouths of the cold-blooded reptiles..." "An old woman was drowning and she jumped into the river and rescued her. Angela resuscitated her, took her home, changed her dress, fed her before interrogating her. As they discussed, this old woman transformed into a vampire, grabbed and overpowered Angela. Her face distorted, her hair stood up. Angela was taken aback by the transformation that her visitor exhibited... the supposed old woman projected her vampire fangs and dug it into Angela's neck. What happened?..." "The recent incident of the hijacked plane in Los Angeles by aliens or the fallen angels had exposed her and her guarded secrets. But she confided in Patricia about these demons who come to abuse and defile her. She was advised to stop using and accepting their gifts. "What? With all your education you claimed you have, you have not heard of incubus and succubus...The synonym is nightmare. she laughed. In his worry MM searched out the meanings of succubus and incubus. He cried out. The damage is irreversible. Incubus is supposed to be a male evil spirit that oppress people while asleep, especially to have sex with women. Succubus is supposed to be a female demon which comes to men, in their dreams to seduce them and have sexual intercourse, drawing energy from the men to sustain themselves, often until the point of exhaustion or death..." "The gathering of the vultures. Some of them called it the last onslaught. The others called it the survivals, the secret meeting or endtime darkness. That was the notion of the fallen angels. Knowing that they'd limited time and what their fate would be they'd to gather to strategize. The survival speech was delivered and addressed to the surviving demons by Satan. "Conquer the world and rule the world. Take away their food and means of livelihood and give them your genetically demonified food. Entice them with our blood money..." The speech drew out their soul, their anger and revenge. They became ecstatic and shouted, "conquer the world and rule the world," repeatedly with expressions. Some tearing their bloodless flesh, making animated eerie noises. After the meeting, the whole atmosphere, the venue of the gathering darkened. There was thundering and lightening. The whole atmosphere smoked with vampire bats all over painting the azure sky black. The blackness of darkness. The world below trembled. The end of the world? They feared and fluttered..." Fallen angels - Ikechukwu Joseph
Chapter One
It rained cats and dogs that Sunday morning in Los Angeles. Patricia woke up in a sad mood. The day before she witnessed the wickedness of a supposed mother. How could a woman dump her new born baby in a trash can when barren women pray every day to God to have one of their own blood? She also heard of baby factories used as a ploy to trap young girls of school age. They were promised better life abroad. Just like artificial bait attached to a fishing line to attract and ensnare a fish, they fall for it and end up in these baby factories where they were forced into prostitution. They were forced to get pregnant and carry the pregnancy for nine months. When they deliver, the babies were sold to the highest bidder. Most of who use them for money or political rituals. What heartless men do for money or fame? How could human beings have fallen to such low estate. They go under the cover of orphanages to carry out such heinous crimes against God and humanity. Patricia had dreamt that one day she would return to her roots like her late father to help her people. She wished to contribute, share in their pains and make impacts in the lives of the less privileged. Her mental or emotional state that morning was in low spirit. The night before she found out too that her best friend Betty was in the plane that had gone missing. Reflections of the good times, trips they took together, picnics, holiday camps, parties and school proms she'd shared with Betty crowded her mind. She was yet to recover from her father's brutal murder at the mission field in South Africa and now Betty. Why does good things not last in my hands or with me,
Patricia thought aloud, her countenance sour and the breakfast before her uninviting. In her contemplations the phone rang breaking her depressed train of thoughts. Maybe for good or for something to cheer. It was Richie her cousin.
Hello! Hello...
she muttered a halfhearted response.
Patty, you sounded very low. How is Los Angeles? Did I call at the wrong time?
The wrong time indeed. It's not you but LA is on fire. Cousin, I was just worried about my best friend Betty who'd gone missing and the Boeing plane she was travelling in...
A plane crash?
No one knows...
Sorry. I should call some other time...
No, you called the right time. I needed people like you to cheer me up. How is Lagos?
Asking of Lagos was to add another bad news to your catalogue of already dented bliss...
Betty Kennedy, not the popular Canadian broadcaster, was the best thing that happened to Patricia outside of her mother. They were classmates and their relationship was anything near a soul-tie, just for want of words. That was how close they were though being in a soul-tie was being in bondage.
Betty sometimes spelt as Bettie was or is a common diminutive for the name Elizabeth. In Latin America, it is also for the given name Beatriz or the English name Beatrice. Beatrice means she who makes happy
and that was what Betty was to Patricia. No wonder she felt so depressed.
However, in her conversation with Richie they shared events and happenings that had transpired in both sides of the world. The western world, precisely Los Angeles in U.S.A for Patricia and Lagos, Nigeria for Richie. The name Richie is a diminutive of the male given name David.
Lagos is cool,
Richie answered her. Only some political upheavals here and there. I hope the xenophobic attacks experienced by our people in South Africa is not experienced there? Blacks against blacks?
Richie regretted.
No such thing here. Though in a subtle manner we'd our own regrets too. Only when we lived in Arizona, a white dominated area of the States did we experience what I would call a suppressed but subtle form of racial discrimination,
Patricia complained.
You're not right. With advanced democracy and majority educated, U.S must be above board,
Richie replied basing his objections on what he'd read and observed from global news and the internet.
Patricia sighed again. She'd done that severally just trying to explain herself. We had a black brother that worshipped in our Church who sold his house at Arizona. His story was pathetic. Mr. KC, that was what everyone called him, was very friendly and hospitable. When he made some money, he decided to buy a property at Arizona, a white dominated suburb. He lived there with his family. But he saw that his white neighbors were hostile. Later he discovered it was because he was black. Why? He further found out the hostile white neighbors questioned the source of his money that he used in buying such expensive house. They believed that only dubious black criminals could afford such a house. All his friendly postures to his neighbors were rebuffed. The worst was that he was treated like a taboo in the church he attended. One of those instances he attended the service the obvious happened. The first three rows of seats were filled up, so he took to the first seat on the fourth row. He was shocked when the story his university professor told them way back in Nigeria played out. Every one avoided his fourth row of seats. The fifth row filled up. So the sixth, seventh and so on. Mr. KC was left all alone on the whole row. His black professor back then at his university told them how being a devote catholic he decided to go and worship in a Catholic church when he traveled abroad. They warned him that blacks were not allowed. He refused and entered but was carried out of the church by the security men. But Mr. KC decided to play the Christian love. He managed for some time until his business partners roped him in. The U.S government sued him for supplying medical equipment to government hospital without approval. What happened was that he called the company and they told him that the government doctor had approved and he gave them the go ahead to supply. They supplied without approval. Someone planned his downfall. That was how he was imprisoned for two years. He spent all his hard earned savings on legal fees to a Jewish lawyer who rather sided the government. When he came out after two years he sold his house and left White dominated Arizona...
Richie mumbled words of prayers, God have mercy. After all it is not only angels that fall. Even humans too...
Patricia objected immediately, Mr. KC had not fallen but his persecutors could be described as fallen human. They'd fallen from higher animal status to very low animal instincts. They are only animals that don't have human instinct, impulse and feelings... That is, that is...,
she swallowed her words and almost shed tears. Patricia was a very emotional and compassionate individual. I think every woman should because of the way God
