Chapter 1

Magnolia groans as she pushes the roaster back with her foot. She glares at the roaster before saying in a deep Southern accent God It's 3 in the morning it's too early for you to be attacking me. Now let me get the eggs. She pushed him away again and walked into the chicken coop to start getting the eggs. She knew that her mama was in the barn milking Ruth. Her papa was supposed to be hooking up the caddle trailer to Remy. She smiles as she grabs the last egg before walking out of the chicken coop.

She turned to the right and walked towards the barn. When she saw her mama she walked over to her Mama we go a dozen eggs this time. Do you need help? Her mama smiled and shook her head no Go help your dad darling. I'm about to go inside and make breakfast. Magnolia nodded and handed her mom the basket full of eggs before walking to the barn door and stopping and turning to look at her mama Oh mama remember that I’ll be going to town today. Papa said that we have a few deliveries for Ma and Pa’s cafe and The Big Bob Grocery store. Also, the auction is today so I’m going to try to get a goat. Were there any other animals I needed to get while there? Her Mama put her thumb under her chin and her index finger at the bottom of her lip trying to think then she snapped her fingers Yes Your Papa was gonna sell one of the roosters and he needs you to get at least two geese. I think that's all that was needed but ask your papa. Magnolia nodded and smiled Okay Mama I’ll go talk to Papa. She walked out of the barn finally and walked over to the cow poster where she saw her dad with Remy.

Once she made it to her papa she smiled at him and hugged him before pulling back away and saying Papa do you need any help? Her Papa nodded and said Sure darling. Could you help me? We are loading up one of the cows and one of the rosters then we will head to the barn and load up all the vegetables and fruit that we have. I also will need you to give some eggs to Bastien for him and his wife. Also at the auction, I need you to get a few geese and a goat. If you see anything else you think we can use try to get it. Magnolia nodded I can do that papa. I'll go get the roaster if you wanna load the cow up by yourself? Her pap nodded and sent her back to the chicken coop to get the roaster.

She laughed as she chased the roaster all around the pen till she could finally corner him in the corner of the cage. She grabbed him and walked to the gate of the coop. Once she got the door opened she walked over to her dad who by this time was loading the vegetables and fruits in the back of the truck. She put the chicken in a cage and put it in the cow trailer. All done. We should probably get inside and washed up before mom murders us for missing the best meal of the day. Her papa laughed Yea let's get inside. The two walked to the old two-story wooden house that her papa built by hand for her mama. Magnolia always told herself she would marry someone like her dad.
