Great.

Leave it to me to drop my pens and highlighters in the middle of my school’s library.

Sighing, I dropped to my knees. What a bad day to wear jean shorts to school. I scanned the cold floor under the table for my stuff.

What a sight I must make.

My next class would start soon, and here I was, hunting pens. Blowing my long red hair from my face, I reached out for the highlighters. I placed them in my bag in a rush.

Okay, what was next? My colorful pens. I collected a few, shoving them inside my bag.

I couldn’t be late because good students were never late. I lived by that. So I had to find two remaining pens.

Making quick work of spotting them, I groaned. They rolled far away from me. How did that even happen? Against my better judgment, I crawled towards them. If my sisters saw me, they’d find the situation hilarious.

Not me though.

Why didn’t I get out from under the table and walked to the other side? Now that was a good question. One I had no time to answer.

I almost reached them.

Relief washed over me, tension floating away. I would make it to my class in time. I’d remain a good student. My teacher wouldn’t stop loving me. I reached out for the first pen.
