NOVACARDIO: NOVAFONE SAVES LIVES AND SECURES WORLD PEACE
By Jason O’Neil

About this ebook
They enlist the aid of Dr. James Cox, the famous cardiologist from the Georgetown University Hospital who invented unique ways to keep cardiac patients alive. Dr. Cox is a consultant for the 3M Company which provides an attachment strip which adheres a sensor patch to a smart phone, a NOVAFONE.
The new patch is a small fiber pad which contains thousands of microscopic bullhorn-shaped sensors which serve as an advanced electrocardiogram reading the actions of a human heart. To manufacture the patch, the couple selects the Kimberly-Clark Company in Fox Crossing, Wisconsin.
The smart phone supplier is Apple Computer. The patch with a two-sided strip is mounted on the back of an iPhone which uses a new ALERNA voice command to access IBM’s Watson supercomputer which sends a diagnosis in seconds.
A NOVAFONE saves the lives of both the U.S. President and the Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party. It becomes a seminal moment in history, as the Chinese leader realizes that his country can’t attack Taiwan and depends upon American technology for its future while they create a peaceful world.

ANNAPOLIS
40988.pngAMY, I’VE BEEN THINKING.
"Oh, that’s dangerous, Taylor. What’s on your mind now?
Every six months we get a new smartphone.
So…?
So, as smart as the device is, I think it could be a lot smarter and a lot more useful.
Wait a minute, big guy. There are applications on our phone yet to be discovered.
Yes, you’re right, of course. And our phones can access the whole world of the Internet of Things, but…
But what?
Well, you’ve heard of IBM’s supercomputer called Watson. Right?
Yes, so…
So, Watson can process 90-trillion operations per second, much of it is unstructured data. What if we could harness this computer power in a $1,200 smartphone.
Well, my dear, yes, the phone could be super smart.
Exactly. And what if much of the data was factual and unstructured medical data about a person which could be instantly accessed?
Well, the user might be able to solve a personal medical problem or question a health issue without going to the doctor.
Yes, precisely. And what if you could use a simple voice command to access the data?"
Well, I’m all ears, my love!
(Ha-Ha)
So, Amy, what I have in mind is voice synthesizer front-end application—let’s say I call it ALERNA—to be a simple command to access Watson.
Well, that would be pretty cool. But something tells me you want to take this capability even further.
You’re right, my dear, I do. What I have in mind is an attachable pad or patch which serves as an input sensor which reads a person’s health. One would put the phone with pad up to his or her chest, and in seconds Watson would respond with a text or verbal announcement about one’s heart health and what to do about it, even call an ambulance if necessary. Your new, personal cardiologist could access your medical records and recommend action.
Taylor, my dad would buy one of those in a heartbeat!
I know. Early warning could really save lives. And there is one more thing which really has me excited.
What’s that?
The application pad could be programmed for a specific medical purpose and would be replaced semi-annually to refresh a capability. It’s the razor and blade business model.
Honey, that’s genius! You’re talking about creating a multi-million-dollar enterprise which serves many humane purposes!
The couple looked each other in the eye and clinked their glasses of wine. Here’s to helping humanity!

BALTIMORE
40988.pngA WEEK LATER THE couple drove the 26-miles from Annapolis to Baltimore to the Johns Hopkins Medical Campus in East Baltimore. After passing through security, the couple was punctual for their appointment with Dr. Leon Pensky, the hospital’s Director of Technology.
Welcome, my new friends,
said the small man who reminded Amy of Albert Einstein. Your emails have been quite intriguing. I’m eager to learn more.
Thank you, Sir,
replied Taylor. "We’re so glad you could
