About this ebook

In book 2 of The Elders Trilogy, Consequences, our heroine Jessica Cartright has been forced to leave the life she's knows behind. Hunted by Rogue Vampires, a coven led by her fiancé David's mother Lourdes, the Elders Council has moved them into protective custody.

Lourdes and her coven have made it their life's mission to see to it that David and Jess never marry. The only way she can ensure this never takes place is by ending Jess's life, no matter what it costs her.

Hunted by the council for her crimes committed against not only humankind, but the vampire community as well, will Lourdes be able to pull off the attack and escape unscathed? Or will she and Jess succumb to the same, bloody end?

The Elders Trilogy is an erotic, paranormal/horror romance series. While this book is predominately MF, there are some bi-sexual elements including a Reverse Harem scene.

There are so many souls in my life for which I’m thankful for ♥

This book is dedicated to those struggling with battling their demons. Don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for help when you need it. Everyone needs it at some point in their lives, so know that you are not alone.

Many thanks to my dear friend Kate Kardasheva for the help you provided when I researched the beautiful country from which you came, Bulgaria. Traveling through your eyes has made me long to visit your homeland.

To my dear friend and fellow author, Ann Lister:

Fate brought us together, having kindred spirits made us friends. For that, I will forever be thankful.

Julia Goolia – Always & Forever

    To my sons,

You've saved me more times than I can could.

I love you with all my heart

    Chapter One

    Jess

    image-placeholder

Son, David’s father Aurelio’s voice bounds through the speaker on his phone, your mother, she’s escaped. I’ve sustained significant injuries by her hands. I don’t know what I was thinking by going after her myself. I was foolish to believe she’d listen to me. We’re on our way to the castle now. You and Jess are no longer safe. The guards should be there momentarily to bring you both to Bulgaria. Click, the call disconnects right as the doorbell rings.

Four burly vampires clad in black enter, their impassive stances giving away nothing. I can’t read them one way or another. Do they feel it is beneath them to guard a human? David and Tristan greet them while I tend to my dogs who are in full blown panic mode. We’re urged to hastily pack with the promise that whatever else may be needed can be easily obtained once we land in Varna and to pack only what we must.

Random vampires flank our home, taking the tools the guys had in hand and promptly installing the new front door David and Tristan had just returned from purchasing. While the three of us pack, I grab what I can for the dogs as well. They are beside themselves, barking and scratching the backside of the bedroom door which stands as the only barrier between them and our visitors. David has to take control of their leashes because they’d drag me down the hall in their quest to move to the strangers who’d entered their home. Luckily, he restrains them before they drag me down the stairs.

The drive to my parents’ house is less than desirable as my dogs are literally foaming at the mouth trying to attack those in the car with us. When we pull up, my dad opens the front door before we even reach it. The look of shock covering his face instantly morphs into pure concern. We’ve never once shown up unannounced, hell, we haven’t even visited their house since we became a couple well over a year ago. But as my father’s arms wrap around me, the tears spring forth and he shoots David a What the fuck did you do to my daughter? glare.

Daddy, I plead, hoping the format for which I chose to address him will help ease his frayed nerves, David loves me, he’s done nothing wrong. His parents sprang a trip to Bulgaria on us at the last minute and I’m having a hard time saying goodbye to Dash and Vi. I hope they can stay here while we’re gone? Being riddled with guilt as the lie escapes my lips makes it hard to breathe.

He cups my face in his hands, wiping the tears away with the pads of his thumbs, Okay, baby girl. I love you, and I promise I’ll take good care of them for you. No question of when we’d return, just a promise to care for my beloved pets. He knows something’s up, yet he doesn’t pry. Merely trusts in me to make good choices and be safe. If I were to reach out when in need, Dad wouldn’t hesitate to help as he is now with Dash and Vi.

    I love you, too, Dad.

After a final hug, he nods at David with that nonverbal fatherly warning before we leave. I’m thankful my mother didn’t present herself while we were there, the thought of dealing with her today would’ve sent me plummeting over the edge. Not that I’m not teetering on it already.

When we arrive at the private hangar at Sky Harbor Airport, we’re loaded onto the council’s jet in a frenzied rush. As seatbelts click into place, the plane lifts off and our journey into the unknown begins. I sleep off and on throughout the duration of the flight, only fully waking when we touch down in Varna in the dead of night. Deplaning, we’re once again ushered into an awaiting car. No time to take in our surroundings or the merriment I should’ve felt at stepping foot on foreign soil for the first time. I compare it to what life as a celebrity is like while avoiding the paparazzi. Not to mention the hurried ways for which our undead guardians move screws with my head and makes me nauseous. Literally.

Sitting in the back seat of the council’s limousine, they chat amongst themselves in hushed tones. It seems they are wary of the human potentially hearing their words. Why? Who the hell knows? Therefore, I choose to focus outside of the car, barely able to make out the buildings through the
