About this ebook
The friendship found in this book is one that will last a lifetime. Annie feels that she is not pretty enough and therefore would give anything to become Leslie, her idol at school. Through the phases of a mis-adventure, along with the help of her two meddling grandmothers, Annie soon realizes that she is pretty enough and always has been.
Sometimes it takes a girl's own trials, tribulations, and thoughts to put life in perspective, instead of everyone else telling her how she 'should' feel.

My Copy Cat - Lee Ann Ferguson
Boys and Girls
THAT affair of Charles Simmons’s cat never became known.
Somehow, Scotty, the cat found itself inside the neighbor’s house and tore up the new draperies while trying to escape. Of course, no one knew how the cat entered, as cats cannot turn door knobs. This goes to show that two little boys and a little girl can keep a secret – that is, sometimes.
Mr. Simmons' house was something of a famous place, as it was the oldest house in town and registered at the Historical Society. Mr. Simmons' house looks like it should have been built on a hillside near a river some time in the thirteenth century.
A castle type construction, it is solid and imposing. Stone is the majority of the structure with stones the size of a man’s head and more. Most of the homes in town appear to be miniature versions of Mr. Simmons’, and all a great deal newer.
Cantyville is the most mansion-filled town you’ll ever find, a part of American heritage with a little dot on the map which pinpoints 854 small town citizens. These citizens like their little town exactly as it is and have no intention of letting ‘corporate America’ in. It is quaint and quiet and everyone likes it very much that way. The only thing merely exciting is when a cat gets caught up in a tree, or in the previous case, Mr. Simmons house.
At this particular point in time, the two little boys who were suspected to be involved had an advantage over the little girl because they could talk over the affair and get their stories aligned with pertinent details in order to stay out of trouble. Although this may sound like a trivial detail, it is indeed, of much importance.
The little girl, Leslie MacIntosh, on the other hand, was left alone with her thoughts, unsure of what to say or do. She knew that the boys were sorting out the story so that they would not get caught, but what about her? Would they stick up for her? As she sat there, twirling a piece of hair around her finger, she realized that she needed a girl to confide in and who she could trust to keep secrets.
The town was small and everyone knew everyone else, which also meant that Leslie’s parents also knew all of the other parents, in fact, her parents hosted dinner parties of which several couples of parents attended.
She needed to be careful about whom she confided because that, she thought, is how people get caught for pushing a cat through the barely open screen door on Mr. Simmon’s back veranda.
Leslie had only little Annie Williams, commonly called by the pupils of Madame’s Providence School The Copy-Cat.
Annie is not quite five feet tall. Her hair is stick-straight and a deep brown with blonde highlights that glow under the warm sun. Annie has freckles across her nose and cheeks, and is a mild type of child. She typically wears blue and white gingham dresses and black Mary Janes, because gingham is a sturdy cloth and can take a bit of soiling now and then, and Mary Jane’s are a sensible shoe and can be worn with most anything she owns.
Annie is quiet and never causes any trouble for her mother. Her father passed away many years ago from pneumonia and therefore, she and her mother live
