Alright, let’s cut the crap and get down to it. This ain’t your typical story. Nah, this is a wild, messed-up, life-changing ride that starts with yours truly dropping ten hits of acid. Crazy, I know, but stick with me here. This ride was more than just colors dancing around and walls breathing. No, this was my one-way ticket to the most messed-up wake-up call of my life.

So, there I was, teetering on the edge of losing my shit, staring into the trippy abyss, and I realized some- thing: I was dead. Not in the physical sense, but I was a dead man walking, living a life that was going nowhere fast. But this trip, this goddamn trip, made me see that in order to really live, I first had to die. I had to kill the version of me that was stumbling around in the dark and let the real me rise from the ashes.

This whole journey was like my subconscious saying, Wake the fuck up, man! You’re more than this! And holy shit, was it right. We spend our whole lives being told what to do, what to think, who to be. But I’m telling you, that’s all bullshit. We need to start thinking for ourselves, start living for ourselves.

CHAPTER I

THE FUCK IT MOMENT

Sweat glistened on my palms, heart drumming an impatient rhythm against my ribs.

Across from me, my buddy matched my tension, eyes wide and lips pressed thin. Between us, a small foil square held the promise of a journey into the unknown, twenty hits of pure acid. We’d done acid before, but never like this, never this much.

I glanced at my friend, his eyes matching the intensity of my own. It was a silent lan- guage, it screamed, Are we really doing this?

Yeah, we’re doing this, I responded, as much to myself as to him. Our lives up to this point had been an avalanche of bad decisions.
