    Dedication

My Big Red Shed Stories are dedicated to my mother:

    Wavaglee (Wave) Miller.

    Acknowledgments

To my husband, Gene, I thank him for his love, support, his humor and our shared belief that through faith all things are possible.

To Barbara Koss—a longtime friend. I thank her for her abundant enthusiasm and editorial skills—her patience in critiquing my stories—many times over.

To Myrtle Kuehling, a life time friend of our family, who at 92 provides me with the motherly love, advice, and encouragement still needed.

To Marlene Laurenstein, who shared her overwhelming praise and endearing comments after reading a rough draft of The Magic of the Big Red Shed.

To Linda McDowell, a friend and neighbor, who renewed my spirit and encouraged me to continue with my stories.

To Eileen Roth, a semi-retired English Teacher. We renewed our high school friendship while Eileen shared with me her thoughts and expertise in the English language.

To Pastors Robert H. Schuller and Robert A. Schuller for their positive Sunday messages on the Hour of Power from the Crystal Cathedral for the past 35 years.

And to my sister, Chris, who came to my aid in the 11th hour, my Dad who believed in me and to the rest of my family and friends that watched my dream unfold.

A big red shed dotted the snowy landscape.

A trail of small tracks appeared in the fresh snow and led to an opening beneath the old shed’s door.

Huge white snowflakes danced in the air. Magically one by one the mysterious tracks disappeared.

Safely inside the shed the weary little traveler slowly climbed up a steep wooden ladder to a high hayloft, thankful for the shelter and warmth offered by the old shed.

The long winter days soon passed. A red-breasted Robin announced the arrival of spring.
