About this ebook

An Amelia Watson mini mystery

Amelia Watson loves to solve mysteries and hates it when she's unable to dig up the answers. That latter's been the case recently, so it might be better if she didn't try at all. That way she'd avoid the embarrassment of calling out the police when no crime had been committed.

But a man carried… OK, probably not the dead body it looked like, but definitely something, into the woods. His excuse for being there was a lie. It can't really hurt to take her dog Bongo for another walk there and take a look – can it?

Unearthing The Truth - Patsy Collins

I really am the worst detective ever! Amelia Watson said.

That's not what I want to hear when I've rung to ask you to solve a mystery for me, her best friend Nicole replied. Anyway it's not true. You're pretty terrible, but there must be some who are a tiny bit worse.

You want my help you say? Amelia asked, trying to sound indignant.

Correct, Nicole replied. You don't think I'd call just to talk to you?

    A proper friend would.

Nooo. A proper friend, knowing you've not had any time off in ages, would call you to say that something odd is happening next to her B&B, which just happens to have a free room at the moment. She'd explain about the suspicious activity with giraffes...

A giraffe? Amelia interrupted. After dogs and the more easily identified seabirds they were her absolute favourite animal.

No! Listen will you? It was OK when it was just one, but it's getting silly. Nobody can understand it, nobody who thinks logically that is. You on the other hand should solve it in minutes and then we can spend a few days together having fun, Nicole coaxed.

That does sound nice, but we're really busy at work and in any case, after embarrassing myself this morning, I've given up everything to do with solving crimes and investigating mysteries.

Embarrassing yourself? Nicole asked with a laugh in her voice. Come on, spill!

    "Absolutely not.
