Chapter  1

A lex! Casey shrieked into the phone, her curly auburn hair bouncing with excitement You'll never believe this!

Her best friend Alex snapped to attention. What? he demanded. Tell me!

It was a lazy Friday afternoon in Connecticut, and though it was late April, winter still clung on with icy fingers.

Remember that work contest I told you about? Casey blurted excitedly. Well, guess who's going on an African safari!

No way! Alex shouted. Oh my gosh, that's awesome!

Alex was genuinely thrilled for Casey. After her bad breakup with Dylan, she needed a getaway far, far away.

He jumped off the couch and raced to the bathroom, banging on the door. Stewart! News! he hollered to his partner. Casey's going to Africa!

From inside the shower came a muffled Awesome! Tell her congrats for me!

Alex flashed a thumbs up he knew Stewart couldn't see and bolted back to the living room.

Casey laughed as Alex rattled off warnings. Alex who after the thrill of the news wore off, warned Casey to be careful of wild animals, civil wars, infectious diseases, a warning not to drink the water, and most importantly, in his opinion, to stock up on moisturizer, because you apparently couldn’t get  moisturizer in Africa.

Same old cautious Alex! Casey was a bit worried about going all the way to Africa, and all alone but a she was excited.

I'll be careful, don't worry!" she assured him.

She knew this adventure was just what she needed after her messy breakup with Dylan.

This was going to be the trip of a lifetime. She could feel it already.

Chapter 2

Excitement surged within Casey as the plane from JFK smoothly touched down on the tarmac at Johannesburg International Airport.

This is it, she thought, tingling with anticipation, her forest green eyes sparkling My African adventure begins now!"

To her delight, Casey's expectations of a luxurious vacation were surpassed by reality. A private jet awaited her, all set to whisk her from Johannesburg to exclusive and private game reserve that she would call home for the next 2 weeks.

With no other passengers, the attentive air hostess pampered her with delectable nibbles and champagne.

A private car met her on the lodge’s private runway, and escorted her to the ultra-luxurious safari lodge that felt more like a chic boutique hotel. Casey could feel the balmy warm night air and immediately felt like Africa was giving her a warm embrace of welcome.

Yes! she thought, enthusiasm building. This vacation is going to rock!

After nearly 25 hours being in the air, crossing over the Atlantic, all the way to the southern tip of Africa, Casey had finally arrived. Settled into her luxury chalet amidst the African bush, she marveled at her first night in the wilderness.

Her spacious chalet was an architectural gem, blending rustic charm with elegant finishes. The thatched roof, exposed beams, and natural materials created an authentic vibe. Huge windows overlooked the untamed landscape outside.

The spa-like bathroom came equipped with a freestanding tub, rain shower, and double vanities. Her favorite feature? The outdoor shower under the open sky.

Stepping onto the private deck took her breath away. A small plunge pool glowed invitingly, surrounded by the exotic bush. Massive screened windows allowed for wildlife viewing from the safety of her chalet. Strategic landscaping ensured total privacy.

The spacious layout flowed seamlessly from plush bedroom to living area to a cozy sitting nook, lit by huge windows overlooking the wild African landscape. Casey sank into the cushy king bed with its luxurious linens and sighed happily.

She even had her own personal butler, Jonathan, to handle everything from meals to drawing her nightly bath.
