The warm scent of pumpkin filled the kitchen. I loved pumpkin, even if it reminded me of a certain person and last Christmas. A person I’d see at dinner tonight. Nerves clenched my stomach, as I sighed.

I bent and retrieved the pumpkin pie from the oven. More of the delicious aroma drifted into the room. I smiled, happy with the pie but not the upcoming dinner. More importantly a certain guest.
