Brenna Jensen is a Criminal Investigator who returns to her home town because a killer sent her a letter. She's spooked and also determined to find out what's going on and help the investigation. She's also confused about the attraction Nick Tarver, one of the FBI agents assigned to the case, has for her. She might have a one-night stand with him but she's very selfconscious about her scars and her mother keeps telling her how unattractive she is with those scars. The romance did catch my attention, the two of them worked well but I think he was a bit annoying when he insisted on her moving to a suite. Then again as an FBI agent he seemed to be more used to telling people what to do rather than persuading them. He might want to work on that.I liked the characters and the story and found it interesting that the author used her own experience of her own burn scars as inspiration. Way to write about what you know! I did guess the killer pretty early on and the story progress needed a bit more believable wild herrings. Still I enjoyed the read.
