About this ebook

A Regency battle of the sexes begins between the scandalously mischievous Lady Rosalind and her dashing secret guardian . . .

A woman of pristine breeding, Lady Rosalind Devine is also an unrepentant meddler and snoop—which is why her brother refuses to leave her to her own devices while on his wedding trip. But Rosalind will not make things easy for any unseen, unwanted “nursemaid”—and vows to use her considerable wiles to expose her mystery guardian.

Nicholas Kincaid, the Marquess of Winterbourne, agreed to secretly guard his friend’s spoiled, stubborn sister, though her infuriating penchant for mischief is causing him to question his decision. Though he’s bound by the rules of society—and friendship—Rosalind’s spirit and sensuality have sparked a fierce desire in Nicholas to play a very different role in her life, one that entails passion, ecstasy—and unavoidable scandal . . .

Guarding a Notorious Lady
Author

Olivia Parker

At eight years old, Olivia Parker wrote her first romance with a fat red marker. It made one's eyes hurt to read it, but it did have a tortured hero. Since then, she's dedicated her efforts to improving her craft (now using pencils) and divides her time among her love of writing, reading, and relaxing with her family. She currently resides in northern Ohio with her husband, three children, a border collie, and a cockatiel, who eats a worrisome amount of popcorn.

A decent story, but not fantastic. I liked the characters, but several times they seemed just a tad bit too dense to be believed (seriously, how could Rosaind, a fairly intelligent woman, NOT figure out immediately who her "guardian" was? Silliness). I read the first book in the series fairly recently, and the Rosalind in this one didn't really seem to be the same character she was in the other--she came off as much younger and less worldly here. It did keep me turning the pages, but there was quite a bit of belief suspended in the process.

I reviewed this book for Romance Reader At Heart website. RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: We met the heroine Lady Rosalind, a sister to Gabriel Devine, the Duke of Wolverest, in AT THE BRIDE HUNT BALL where I liked her well enough. But here, in GUARDING A NOTORIOUS LADY, I came to know who she is; what her dreams and desires are; and finally I get to know the love she feels very deeply for her brother's best friend. We also met Nicholas Kincaid, Marquess of Winterbourne, in the same book and knew that his friendship with the Duke went way back to their school days. In this tale we find out the reasons behind Nicholas' preconceived notions of love, his deep yearning for Rosalind, and the reason behind his accepting the `assignment' of guarding his best friend's notorious sister. GUARDING A NOTORIOUS LADY is the third book in Olivia Parker's series about the Devine siblings. If you haven't read the other two, please don't worry. This series could well be read as a standalone, but to get the better feel of it, and to understand the siblings, you'll be better off to read them in their order: Gabriel and Madelyn's story is in THE BRIDE HUNT BALL, and the second book is a romance between Madelyn's best friend Charlotte Greene and Adam Faramond, Earl of Rothbury. Tristan's, Rosalind, and Gabriel's younger brother is getting his own story shortly, and this one I'm eagerly awaiting. I'm fairly sure that I'm not alone in praising this book, and for that matter, this whole series. GUARDING A NOTORIOUS LADY was a fast paced, well developed, and all around delightful historical romance. It is well written, with a plausible plot line and hero and heroine that are strong, interesting, fun and hot. Every love scene in this book sizzles and is so well done, that it leaves one with a feeling that we're intruding, and maybe we should slowly turn away and leave these lovers be... If you're in a mood for a sensual `catch me if you dare' romance filled with witty banter between this duo, look no further than GUARDING A NOTORIOUS LADY.

GUARDING A NOTORIOUS LADY(DEVINE & FRIENDS) by Olivia Parker is an interesting historical romance set in Regency London. It is the third in the "Devine & Friends" series, but can be read as a stand alone.See "At the Bride Hunt Ball" and To Wed a Wicked Earl". First let me say this is a story with witty banter, funny events, romance, sweet sensuality, and love. This plot is interesting, how one man can the the guardian of one little woman and not become further attached. For Nicholas Kincaid, the best friend of Lady Rosalind, who has always had feelings for her.And Lady Rosalind and always loved Nicholas, yes loved him, although he doesn't know it yet.Lady Rosalind is a matchmaking, for everyone but herself.Nicholas who now has a title, the Marquess of Winterbourne, and is repaying a debt is to be Lady Rosalind's guard.Someone,at White's has wager's going as to who will marry her. While Lady Rosalind is a little troublesome, spoiled, has a penchant for mischief and doesn't know who her "nursemaid" is but is determined to found out.She soon figures it out. This story includes a travel through the countryside,a near drowning of Lady Rosalind,a near kidnapping,a little passion, family, love and romance.Together Lady Rosalind and Nicholas will learn trust, and what it really means to truly love someone. This is a fast paced, witty story that is a breath of fresh air.The characters are not only engaging, but are also human with their desires, passion and their need to protect their hearts. What a great historical romance.A must read. This book was received for the purpose of review from Net Galley and the publisher and details can be found at Avon,an imprint of Harper Collins Publishers and My Book Addiction Reviews.4.5
