Stephen's Day - HP
One
In a time, long past, in the serene countryside of Bishopstoke, England, during the year 1923, there dwelt a most extraordinary duck named Stephen. Stephen was unlike any ordinary fowl; he was renowned far and wide for his feathers of resplendent canary yellow, which gleamed in the sunlight as if touched by the divine hand. His eyes held a glint of unearthly wisdom, and his quacks bore a hint of sacred knowledge that set him apart from all other avian creatures in the land.
In this tranquil land of Bishopstoke, a one-eyed, one-legged Frenchman known as Claud was destined to cross paths with Stephen. Claud, a retired soldier who had sacrificed his eye and limb in the great upheaval of World War I, had taken up residence in a humble cottage on the fringes of the village of Bishopstoke. His occupation was that of a hunter, a pursuit he had embraced to both occupy his days and to provide sustenance for his humble abode.

Claud, his lone eye gleaming with avarice and intrigue, resolved to capture this remarkable waterfowl, for he envisioned the acclaim and prosperity that would surely accompany the ownership of such a singular creature.
And so, with unwavering determination, Claud embarked upon a quest to ensnare Stephen. He traversed the verdant fields of Bishopstoke, guided by the hushed murmurs of the villagers who had glimpsed the canary-yellow duck. Claud's resolve was unyielding, and he devised a cunning stratagem to secure Stephen's presence without causing him harm. At the tranquil pond where Stephen customarily whiled away his afternoons, Claud artfully positioned a net, lured by the promise of breadcrumbs, and concealed himself behind a gnarled oak tree, concealed by the towering grass.
As the sun gradually descended, casting elongated shadows
