In The Uprising, the third book in what many are now calling the Heartland trilogy, Bunk Russell continues to entertain his readers with his unique writing style. In this writing, patriotism takes on a new meaning as Mike Lane, the leader of the now Patriot Party and the Newly Born Patriot Movement, creates an alliance between strange bedfellows--the patriot militias, the United States military, law enforcement, and a discontented populace.

The country has an openly lesbian president and a Muslim vice president, and they have appointed socialists and socialist sympathizers throughout their cabinet. The New World Union has troops on American soil, and the president has plans to completely remove what little is left of America's constitutional republic and nationalist structure to become the president of this New World Union. The United States will essentially be dissolved, and all the government, including the military and the national and local law enforcement agencies, will be subservient to the NWU.

This becomes the unifier of Mike Lane's coalition, which will attempt to take our country back and to reestablish the constitutional republic of the Founding Fathers.

The Uprising plays itself out all across the heartland in a way that only this author could create with a blend of today's news, history, and science fiction. This book reminds us all that freedom is not given but is taken.

Preface

It had been years now since the country elected a conservative constitutionalist to the Oval Office. The House was totally dominated by Democrats, who were socialistic in all their agendas. The Republican Party was holding on to the Senate by just one seat. That seat was in the state of California, and the current senator was being removed from office. The last time a senator was expelled from office was in 1861. The Senate quickly passed Senator Daniel Clark's resolution, expelling all ten of the Southern senators by a vote of thirty-two to ten. By the following February, the Senate expelled another four senators for offering aid to the Confederacy.

A Republican senator in Florida died, and the governor was appointing the progressive attorney general to that seat. The highly populated portion of the state was now blue with only a few red counties in the northern part of the state. Florida looked more like Silicon Valley than the retirement state of the past. It was now a destination state for maturing millennials and middle-aged postmillennials. These populations were very progressive and were in favor of a larger federal government that promoted democratic socialism. Together, they represented the largest voting block not only in the state but also nationwide. The baby boomers had been relegated to a very small population that resided mostly in a few nursing homes, so they had little to no influence today.

Postmillennials were not as large a demographic as millennials, because they produced fewer marriages and, therefore, fewer children. They grew up in an age where the internet had become a way of life. All these changing social dynamics shaped the postmillennials into a group that not only wanted free stuff but also demanded it. This had changed not only the face of politics but also the face of America. They really looked at everything from education to health care as public goods and services that had been taken over by capitalists.

Together, they elected a POTUS, who was a devout socialist who sort of hid it behind the banner of democratic socialism. Her vice president was the former governor of Minnesota, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, which was held in high esteem by Muslims worldwide. He had openly called for the United States to accept Sharia law as part of our legal structure. They both ran on a platform that promoted the ideology that the economy and society should be run democratically to meet the good of the people, not to make profits for a few. They were both in favor of the main tenets of what was once called the Green New Deal. They campaigned heavily on the promise to ban fossil fuels during their term in the White House. They also promised to repeal and replace the Second Amendment and to confiscate all privately owned firearms not designated as hunting firearms. This designation would be determined by Congress and would require only a majority vote.

Today, 92 percent of Democrats and 65 percent of Republicans supported their agendas. According to the latest Rasmussen poll, only ten states were believed to be red states. (Oh, by the way, blue designated a liberal Democratic state, and red represented a Republican state.) The problem for any remaining conservative Republicans was, these were the wrong states. The poll listed Wyoming, Idaho, Alaska, Utah, North Dakota, Alabama, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Kansas, and Nebraska. Therefore, it would be easy for them to get a majority in the Senate for most of their agendas after the new senators were in place. The repeal of the Second Amendment would take two-thirds of the vote in both Houses of Congress and a constitutional convention. A constitutional convention would require not only the votes in Congress but also the legislatures of thirty-four of the fifty states. In today's social and political environment, all were possible.

Needless to say, the country had again forgotten about 9/11 and, now, June 4. If you did not know, June 4 was the second attack on our country by radical Islamic Muslims, as described in the book The Wind in the Trees.

Chapter 1

The Logan Stone Ranch in South Georgia

Logan Stone, the owner of the Angus ranch, passed away several years ago. His son took over the business; however, most of the income today was generated from cannabis. Oliver Stone was an older millennial now who was raised by a very conservative patriot family who still promoted guns, God, and country above all else. The United States had followed the Canadian model by first starting with the legalization of medical marijuana. The states quickly realized the income potential and so slowly but surely legalized recreational marijuana. It was a slow process that started in several liberal states, then spread across the country as the other states began to turn blue. A few blue states stood strong for as long as they could against legalizing recreational usage.

The next move was the legalization of cannabis-infused edibles for recreational use. This market exploded into a well over one-hundred-billion-dollar business today. You might ask, What about the federal law against all this? Well, with the influx of progressive liberals in our government at the federal level, the laws were changed. Again, this was a slow process; but in the end, the deep state in DC was not going to miss out on this revenue source. They federalized the production of all cannabis products to maximize this revenue base. It was sold to the people by saying that it could only be sold by federal government–licensed retailers and produced by federal-licensed producers. The government claimed that this was the only effective way to keep illicit activities in check.

With the popularity of vegetable-based meat among postmillennials, it became impossible to rely solely on beef production to support the once self-sufficient Angus farm. Oliver capitalized greatly on all this and became the largest cannabis producer east of the Mississippi River. His family's net worth climbed into billions of dollars and was growing by the day. He had to be very secretive about and careful with his politics and his massive support of the NBPM, the Newly Born Patriot Movement. In fact, he had to stay in the distant background on all fronts for fear of losing his federal license.

This meeting on the farm was a rare event now. It was happening under the disguise of a Cattlemen's Association meeting. It was a gathering of the eighteen most influential patriots in the country. All had been instructed to have Cattlemen's Association stickers on their vehicles from their respective states. It was an easy sell since Oliver was the newly elected head of the National Cattlemen's Association. As always, security was still at the highest level tonight as they entered the farm.

The NBPM was gaining support from the citizens as the federal government—and most of the state governments, for that matter—had begun to grow their socialistic agendas.

Oliver walked up to the podium at 7:00 p.m. to open the meeting. "My fellow patriots, I would like to welcome you here tonight. This is the first of many meetings as we plan for an uprising nationwide in response to the federal government's planned gun grab. In the years after June 4, we've elected many patriots to both houses of Congress. Some are still serving today, but I am sad to say that most of them are doing—or did—a piss-poor job. Money is our biggest friend in our efforts to fight for our republic, but it is also our biggest enemy. Many of our so-called patriots fell prey to the deep state and the monies it has to offer through bribery or, as they call it, lobbying. There is nothing or nobody safe from the clutches of money.

"We had such high hopes in the months and years after June 4. As I look back, it is easy to see why it failed. We sent them to represent us, but gradually, like all of the others in Congress, most only served their own self-interests. We thought that after electing a conservative president, we would change the direction of our republic. The problem was that we could not get another one elected after he served his two terms. Over a period of time, this so-called democratic socialism, something that did not exist—it is just a socialist regime, plain and simple—got all of their socialistic programs through Congress. This created a massive debt structure that is crippling the country, and that is really why they legalized and then federalized all forms of recreational marijuana.

"I know that I am preaching to the choir, but the reason we are here tonight is to try and save the two pillars of our government: the Second Amendment and the Electoral College. Our Constitution has already been weakened by the now liberal Supreme Court. If we lose the Second Amendment or it gets watered down to the point of rendering it useless, then the Constitution will be gone. The Electoral College protects us from California, New York, and many other highly populated liberal states from controlling our elections.

"We have until November 4 to get this right. Everyone in this room is well-known by Congress, so it will be your job to lobby all of the members of the House and the Senate. The good news is that we now have a lobbying office in DC that we can use as command central for this effort. I do need to give credit to our membership in Congress for helping get this office in place. Johnny Lightfoot, I would like for you to take the lead with the White House staff. You have worked miracles in the Northeast, and I credit you with the growth that we have had in Ohio and Michigan. That is why you were elected to lead that region of the country.

"This message is for everyone here tonight. You need to check and double-check the leadership backing you and our cause. That leadership will be preparing for war in case your efforts in Capitol Hill and the White House are not successful. With the attacks against the police and our military for so many years now, we are fortunate to have many highly ranked retired military and retired law enforcement leading our militias. Most of them have been in constant communication with rural law enforcement officers and the generals leading many of our military bases across the country. They are definitely sympathetic to, if not supportive of, our efforts. Every military base in the South has said that they will disobey any order calling for the confiscation of guns from private citizens.

"I need to reinforce the fact that everyone in this room is highly visible and highly monitored by the government. It is crucial that the leadership behind you in all regions is just as capable as you to lead an assault or mount a defense. This is a good time for you to make your evaluations and any changes before November. It is also a good time for them to train and prepare. Your work in DC will draw attention away from them. As you already know, I will become invisible from this day forward. We cannot have anything pointed in my direction, or we will lose a massive source of funds. We have lost all foreign support today, and that is a good thing. They have accomplished their goal of advancing socialism in the US. They were never on our side. They used us and we used them to achieve far different goals.

"Socialism has devastated the oil industry, and they are trying to totally kill it in favor of solar, windmills, and other stupid shit. Silently, the oil industry has moved monies and their innovative resources to own and control the East Coast shipping industry. This transition was organized and financed by L. John Getty, the oil titan. Today, he controls the East Coast ports and some of the key West Coast ports. He is totally on our side and is a great patriot and has picked up the majority of our funding. The democratic socialists in leadership that are promoting globalism are unknowingly helping to finance the Patriot Movement. The ports are booming and minting money by the minute. These funds and the funds from the many patriot-owned marijuana mills have totally replaced any lost funding.

Time has taken its toll on our past leadership, so we have to carry the fight. Mike Lane will now take the podium and is our new supreme leader. Mike has accomplished what our previous leaders could not: creating a great, nationwide organizational structure. Mike leads a very strong, statewide, military-style militia in the great state of Arkansas. His training camp is in Western Arkansas, so his militia and the Texas militia often train together.

"Thank you, Oliver. We have got to quietly but quickly make our preparations. I am not confident that we can curb this planned attack on the Second Amendment with our efforts in DC. We might be able to get a clearer view of how this plays out across our nation. It is believed that Congress and the president plan on letting the attorney generals of each state develop a plan that will be tailor-made for their specific needs. Some believe that it could be one state at a time, starting with California. They have already bought back most of the AR-15s and AK-47s by paying a bounty of five thousand dollars per gun. I will say this: we recently have five new patriot groups formed across California, and they are organizing quickly. The leadership of these groups is either retired military, military, retired law enforcement, or current law enforcement. I am not sure that California will be chosen by us to aggressively defend, but these groups, combined with our existing patriots in the state, will be invaluable.

As each of us lobby in DC, we need to find out more information about how this will happen. Surely some of our members that are still in Congress can find out something. In fact, I will call Mr. Getty tonight about having his daughter Boobie Denton visit with them. That should be fun! Boobie can go off on you if you piss her off, and that ain't hard to do. The entire room lit up with laughter after that comment, because over the years, all of them had fallen victim to her scorn. "She is not an official patriot member, but her ex-husband works closely with Johnny Lightfoot and would be the leader of any militia paramilitary activities in the Northeast. Boobie overlooks and is in charge of all of her dad's East Coast ports. In reality, she controls the monies and the financials for his oil and shipping empire, Vanguard Shipping and Getty Oil. She is not only the person that funnels money to the patriots. She is also the lobbying agent for these companies. With that said, it should be obvious that all doors open when Boobie Denton comes calling.

"We need to make sure that our membership fees are up-to-date in every region. We cannot solely rely on donations to finance what might be in front of us after November. Make sure that the chain of command in each region is clear and defined so that execution will not be a problem. Our training sites across the heartland need to concentrate on any possible medical needs, security needs, and communications. Our survival skills need to be at a very high level. The most important and the most basic skills are having a plan, ability to purify any water source, including your own urine, proficiency at starting a fire, ability to find and prepare food, and signaling. You need to be so good at survival that you could create a homestead on just one acre of land by yourself.

Okay, let's get to the nuts and bolts of why we are here tonight. We must assume that we will be in a full-scale war in November. The second civil war has actually already started. It is now time for us to fight back. Remember, the Great War did not become known as WWI until there was a WWII. The Civil War will, therefore, not be known as Civil War I until all patriots and all Americans regard our current battle as the second civil war.

With that said, Mike Lane left the podium and organized various meetings and planning sessions. These lasted most of the evening, and then everyone left with their marching orders.

The next morning

Mike Lane and Johnny Lightfoot had roomed together at the Ramada Inn in Jesup. They had a light breakfast and then hailed an Uber for a rideshare to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. It was about a four-hour drive and could take longer depending on the unpredictable traffic on Interstate 75 and the outskirts of Atlanta. They had allowed a four-hour cushion before their departing flights.

Johnny, I do not envy you trying to negotiate with the White House. The president and the VP are crazy enough, but then when you add in the secretary of state, it truly is a three-ring circus. That would be a socialist, a Muslim, and a nigger.

Mike, they are not crazy. They know exactly what they are doing and what they want. At times, I wonder how we just sat back and let this happen to our country.

We did not sit back. We just got outnumbered by millennials and postmillennials, who were educated by our socialist educational system. For years, baby boomers helped us outnumber them at the ballot box. Now most of them are either in heaven or hell.

Can we be successful with a political solution as we try to protect the Second Amendment and the Electoral College? You know as well as I that in reality, we are fighting to save our country and strengthen the Constitution.

Truthfully, the only way that we can keep the Senate in November is that someone has to die. If you look at the math, more than one has to die.

Are you serious?

"Think about it, Johnny. We are going to lose both of the Senate seats in question. That will give them a majority. And if something accidentally happened and one died, the Muslim bastard VP would break any ties. Back in the day, they were not afraid to kill us in Waco, Ruby Ridge, and Oregon. The only chance that we have is to keep the Senate by any means. There is no other path. We may have some opportunities if we can add to their financial pains. The president is probably going to make a share grab from all Fortune 500 companies and give it to the employees via executive order.

It is rumored to start with a 10 percent share levy, but you and I both know that will grow under governmental and union pressure. They are trying to extract all of the profits out of the private sector, so those companies need to be on our lobbying list. This is the natural migration of socialism and guaranteed health care for all, including illegal immigrants, along with free education for the same. All of that was never a possibility if you did the math. Their only short-term salvation is to move to collective ownership as soon as possible. This will allow them to control the production, distribution, and exchange of each industry and the service sector.

I know that, Mike, and I also know that in the long run, that will not work, and the country will eventually run out of these goods and services. That is when the elites take over so they can survive, and to hell with the rest of the country. I don't know if we can stop this now, but we have to try. The line in the sand has to be protecting the Second Amendment and stopping the planned gun grab.

At that point, the Uber driver spoke up and said, Count me in. Our fucking governor is making plans right now to do a buyback of all firearms. After that, she plans on sending the National Guard or the military to confiscate the guns from the private citizens that are unwilling to participate. I can tell you right now, they might make that work in Atlanta. When the motherfuckers come to South Georgia, we will shoot them. I will tell you something else: I do not believe the National Guard or the military will help them. We are so organized in South Georgia and the military and law enforcement have been abused so much that they might even fight with us. But, hey, I'm sorry. I guess that I shouldn't have interrupted. Who are you guys?

Traveling furniture salesmen.

Mike responded, Okay. Then what is your name, and what is your main source of income? It can't be Uber.

I deliver shit!

What shit?

Documents for attorneys and others. I also spot houses for sale, as I move through neighborhoods for several people that flip houses. And for enough money, I will deliver packages to anyone from anyone.

Really? Okay, so what is your name?

Samuel Adams.

Let me guess. You make beer.

No, but I have been known to make some damn good home-brewed whiskey. My sour mash kicks Jack Daniel's ass.

So let me get this straight. You will deliver packages from point A to point B with no questions asked in the state of Georgia.

For enough money, guys, I will deliver anything anywhere, and I ask no fucking questions. You do have to pay me up front. I do not give credit or take credit fucking cards, just cash on the barrelhead, son.

Johnny looked over at Mike and said, Interesting. He then said, For a C-note, would you get off at the next exit for about a fifteen-minute chat?

You got it, cowboy!

The Uber driver took the next exit and parked at the far end of a large strip center.

Okay, Samuel, what is your real name, and what do you mean when you said you are so organized in South Georgia?

Before I answer any question, where is the C-note?

Johnny reached into the sock on his left foot and retrieved several one-hundred-dollar bills. He then handed one to the Uber driver and said, Now talk.

Let me ask a question first. Who the fuck are you guys? You get into my car and, in front of God and everybody, start talking about killing people.

Now wait a minute, Sam! We said people had to die. We did not say that anyone had to be murdered. All of that aside, what did you mean with the statement about being organized in South Georgia?

Okay, guys, it is not illegal, but I am part of a movement referred to in some circles as the Patriot Movement.

Really? Okay. Do you know anyone named Oliver Stone?

A strange, questioning look came over Samuel's face, and he hesitated. Uh, yes, I guess. But how do you know—better yet, what do you know—about Oliver?

You picked us up at the Ramada Inn in Jesup, right?

Yes, that is correct.

We had been at Oliver's farm for some meetings the day before.

Look, guys, let me give you the hundred-dollar bill back, and let's just drive on to the airport in Atlanta. I cannot tell you anything about Oliver without getting me and our movement in trouble.

Keep the money, Mike said. I know more about Oliver Stone and his deceased father than you. My name is Mike Lane, and I am the official—or unofficial—leader of the Patriot Movement in this country. My buddy here is Johnny Lightfoot, and he is the leader of our efforts in the Northeast.

Are you shitting me?

No, what I am telling you is the gospel. So do you actually know Oliver, or do you just pick up packages from his farm?

Yes. I deliver packages for him, and I also drive him to places known and unknown, and he has my private number so he can call me instead of going through the Uber app. When he calls for me to take him somewhere, I turn off my app and go off of the Uber rideshare system. That way, I can take him wherever he needs to go without the Uber tracking system.
