Because I know stories with pets worry people, I want to assure you, the dog is fine. The dog is fine the entire time. Only the humans have to worry.
Chapter one
Chapter 1
Wendy grabbed her stack of coffee pods. She had gotten distracted reading fanfic and had never made coffee, but they had the same kind of machine, although a much fancier version, at work. If she left now, metro gods willing, she’d still be on time. She stepped outside and paused because there was a large fluffy dog sitting calmly on the step looking at her. Hi, Puppy.
She shut and locked the door behind her. Turning back, she saw the dog’s leash was tied to the railing.
She took a quick picture of it. Gotta go to work,
she said more as a reminder to herself. She texted her roommate Ashley. Why is there a dog on the porch?
Porch
was a generous term for the 3 x 6 square of cement with a railing at the top of their steps. But these were concerns of fully caffeinated people who had not just promised their boss they would be on time for the 9 AM meetings all this week while the CEO from the Chicago office was visiting. She paused two steps down, realizing the dog was stuck and it was supposed to rain today. She took a selfie of herself and the dog and texted it to her boss. She was still going to be in so much trouble if she didn’t leave right now. Please let Ashley have some sort of explanation.
Ashley texted back, WTF?
Wendy needed to go. But Ashley wouldn’t be home for eight
