About this ebook
Hallie and Annie are identical twins. Like many twins, the two used to take the other’s place and see if they could fool the people they were with. By the time they were in highs school they had each other’s routine down to a science. The girls are identical in almost every way except that Annie is a lesbian, and Hallie is straight. In fact, the reality of this difference occurred when Annie asks Hallie to check her apartment while she is away for several weeks.
On one such check, Hallie catches the tail end of a voice message from another woman asking her out for a date. A flash back to their high school days, Hallie decides to stand in for her sister, just to find out what a lesbian date might be like. She was quite aware of the sexual side of sapphic love but what do two lesbians talk about on a date. She wanted to know about that. Plotting her strategy, Hallie tries to think of ways to deflect personal questions, the woman and her sister may have discussed.
Finally, she dressed in her sisters' clothes so she projected the proper image the woman would surely expect to see from her sister. The first crisis, Hallie had forgotten to account for, she had no idea what the woman looked like, hoping by all that is holy the woman remembered what her sister looked like. As the date arrives at the predetermined meeting place, Hallie is fearful she’ll not be convincing and this whole mess will blow up in her face.

Chapter One
Softly singing an old Beatles tune Hallie Adams watered the last of the numerous flora that filled the small three-room apartment. Not for the first time she thought, what the apartment lacked in size, it more than made up for in charm. The ferns and cacti, as well as the furnishings and other collectables that filled it, reflected the preferences and pursuits of the occupant.
Above the last row of fluffy ruffle ferns, hanging on the wall, was a large photograph of a lovely fair-skinned young woman. The picture was a nude portrait, done in such a way as to be called tasteful. Hallie looked up at the likeness and, as she had done many times before, looked into the face she saw in the mirror.
Oddly, while the face may have been her own, the woman in the portrait wasn't her. Hallie couldn't imagine herself posing for such a photograph, no matter how artistically done. Much less hanging such a thing where any casual visitor could see it. No, she left such things to her more audacious sister.
Annie Adams was Hallie's twin sister. They had been born twenty-seven years ago, fifteen minutes or a month apart, depending how you looked at it. Hallie had been born shortly before midnight on the last day of April, Annie, her younger sister by just a quarter-hour, had arrived in the first minutes of the new month of May. In quirky fashion their parents kicked around the idea of calling the girls April and May thinking it quite a conversation piece to name the girls after the month they were born. The fact that their parents didn’t do that made it quite a conversation piece.
Once past the awkward years, the sisters grew up to be attractive young women. Both stood five foot seven and weighed within a few pounds of the other. The daughters of an Italian American mother and a French-Canadian father, they inherited what was best in each of their parents. From their mother, who had been a hotel manager when she met her father, they had been gifted with beauty and charm. Their father, who had been a well-known Chef at the same establishment, had given them an inborn talent in the culinary arts. After a lifetime of learning the trade at his side, both had become world class Chefs in their own right.
But that was where most of the similarities between Hallie and Annie ended. Of the two, Annie had always been the more free spirited. Hallie was usually content to live a quiet and relatively stable life, having taken over her father's old position when he retired
