As love turns every flaw of the beloved into a virtue, acknowledges every flaw, hides every shortcoming and excuses every evil. When hatred is present in one's heart, the qualities of the opponent are also seen as flaws and perversions. All his good thi

    INTRODUCTION TO CHARACTERS

    Oh mama…!

You should marry me to a gypsy, marry me to a barber, cobbler, and a washer man or tie my hand to the bandit or thief, but for god’s sake don’t mention his name. You don't know how much i hate this person.

Neha was shocked when she heard soban's name.

I am not falling in love with his name. His mother Shahina made a bad face.

    So what is this, then?

My dear!! This is your grandpa's stubbornness. Her mother's tone turned stern.

She stomped her feet on the floor. How can grandpa decide my life?

Obviously, you are right but what can we do?

    What does this mean?

This means! Your grandpa can persuade his sayings.

He can't persuade anything with stubbornness! I will speak for myself. He doesn’t avoid anything from me.

    Your dad has talked already.

So doesn’t dad, inform grandpa that Neha is not agreeing with this decision.

Grandpa didn't ask for your consent. He has just given the decision to marry Neha and Soban.

Mama, i am not a goat that can be tied to whatever peg he wants. And then i am not even asking for the marriage of my choice. Just don’t marry me to a man named Soban. I don't get married and this is my final decision. Does it anywhere else, If you ever listen anything from me, cut my throat.

Mama's life! We know that this is a wrong and cruel decision, but we are helpless. Your grandfather left no space for us.

Why are you so helpless in front of grandpa?

There are more reasons than you think dear.

I am not helpless. Grandpa loves me. He will not do that to me and I’m sure about it.

There is no although in it, said Shahina.

Your grandfather has given a definite order that whoever refuses this marriage will not get even a single piece of inheritance. He will give all his lands and two factories to his second son. And also that none of Soban or Neha would try to talk to him.

And if both sons do not agree then?

Then he will bequeath the two sons and give his property in the name of a trust or seminary etc.

What is this bullshit…? Neha fell on the couch by holding her head. What has happened to grandpa? He used to love me so much.

Shahina made a face. He must know this.

"Mama, why it is me at the end? Fix this relationship with Iqra.

You are so selfish Neha, she is just in the ninth grade in school. Are you a sister or a witch? You are throwing your trouble on the shoulders of this innocent. Shahina said angrily.

So what? In two or three years she will be able to marriage. Why don't you be fair as a mother?

This is not my decision. Your grandfather has issued this order in a final way.

    Neha yelled annoyingly. Bullshit.

Well, refuse, so that your papa can find an apartment to rent and also apply for a job as a clerk or a salesman according to his educational degree.

My last semester's exams have started.

So will we to cover your degree or will we eat it?

    Mama! I will work.

These luxuries, these comforts will not be earned even if you invest all your life. There are thousands on the streets holding MBA degree and walking around shoehorned in. They'll get one more. Or at most you'll be hired as a personal secretary because of your good looks. That salary doesn't even cover your makeup. What will you feed us?

There was moisture in Neha eyes. Mama! After all, I have dreams, aspirations, like every girl, I also have a picture of an unseen ideal in my heart with which I can live a perfect life. Just like you and papa are today.

So won't your sister see this dream? Shahina asked din return.

Let's leave Iqra aside. It is cruel decision for me, isn't it? Her beautiful eyes began to announce her helplessness.

Don’t cry my soul! Shahina hugged her and said. Your Papa is thinking of a proposal. Maybe your grandfather changes his mind.

She kept crying while filling the sobs.

    * * *

Papa! You mean I should leave home. Soban said with great gratification.

No, son! No need to leave home. Hearing your refusal, your grandpa himself will throw us out of the house.

What has happened? He was stunned.

This is your grandpa's final decision.

But don’t you know papa how much I hate the family of Mr. Ikram-ul-Haq but It's a separate matter that he is my uncle. This is not a marriage this is a ruin. A girl I don't want to see, I don't want to talk, you are going to knot me with her forever. What would be crueler than that?

Well, you tell me, in such a case, what should we do?

All the wealth and property of grandpa should be stumbled upon. Both factories should be set on fire. What is the benefit of this house, bungalow, car and comforts for which one has to pay such a heavy price? Soban was helpless.

It is very easy to say all this with language. His dad Mr. Ehsan-ul-Haq smiled in wary tone.

We can start our own business too. Soban said in an thrilled tone.

    Ehsan-ul-Haq smiled. Good joke.

Papa, remember this I will take poison. I'd rather die than marry a girl like Neha.

Rightly said. But if your death would have solved the problem, I would have poisoned you myself. Even in such a case your grandpa will cut off us from hereditary succession. He has clearly announced that whose children refused to marry, their parents will have to forget the inheritance.

Mother! Do you say something? He addressed his silently sitting mother.

Farkhunda cleared her throat before speaking, which indicated that she had nothing to say.

Son, try to understand your father's words. We hesitate to accept the sharing of the grave with your uncle's family, but now we are enforced. These houses, factory lands and the vast and spacious mansions of the village etc. are still in your grandfather's name.

So, is it not possible that we should get engaged to satisfy grandfather’s wish and postpone the marriage for the time being? I mean, how long will grandfather's shadow last over our heads.

I have to say you should ashamed of saying this but the truth is that I also thought something like that. But before any of my suggestion, your grandpa has said that after the exam, the marriage should be done within a month. And surely within a month you both will clear the exams.

Thank you. Soban said in a sarcastic manner and got up to leave.

Listen…Son! Ehsan-ul-Haq stopped him from leaving.

Yes, if there is anything left then also says it. He spoke in such a full tone.

Well, there is a solution. I try that Ikram also agrees with it.

Let me also listen of it? This time, the tone of interest in Soban's tone was prominent.

His father replied while shaking his head in the negative. No, first I will talk to Ikram, and then I will tell you.

    * * *

Malik Zia-ul-Haq belongs to a very rich family. There was no house in the village equal to his mansion. The fort-like mansion spread over the area of three acre used to make the visitors feel inferior. And then the fertile and irrigational large lands of his used to sprout gold. There was an army of farmers whose livelihood was linked to Malik Zia-ul-Haq's mansion.

He had two sons, the elder Malik Ehsan-ul-Haq and the younger Malik Ikram-ul-Haq. Both brothers were born with a golden spoon in their mouth. Malik Zia-ul-Haq himself had got no education, but he paid special attention to the education of his sons. It is a separate thing that both of them always passed with compulsory grading.

Ehsan-ul-Haq was married by his mother's niece Farkhunda. While Ikram ul Haq was lucky in this matter that he got the chance to marry his choice. His parents also did not object because he had chosen a girl from a high family for marriage. His wife’s father, Ehtesham Ali, was also a large landowner. At the time of his Brother Ikram-ul-Haq's marriage, Ehsan-ul-Haq was the father of a three-year-old child. After the birth of Soban, Farkhunda suffered from such complications that she could not become a mother again. After a year of marriage, Ikram ul Haq was also blessed with a daughter. After Neha's birth, the couple thought of taking a break by mutual consent.

Both brothers remained with their parents during the lifetime of their mother, Zebadiah Khatun. After her death, they thought of leaving the village and shifting to the city. Zia-ul-Haq had a huge palace in City as well. While building it, Zia-ul-Haq had kept in mind that if the two brothers wanted to stay apart for some reason, they could live in separate parts without demolishing the house. Zia-ul-Haq also had a steel mill in city, but within a year a conflict of authority arose between the two brothers. Zia-ul-Haq found a solution by building a sugar mill, but he kept both the mills under his own ownership. Both the sons worked as MDs in their respective mills.

However, they had no shortage of money to spend anywhere; they just had to inform their father. Even so, everything will be theirs in the end.

As soon as he came to the city, Ehsan-ul-Haq first enrolled his son in a good private school. Soban was nine years old at that time. Despite being a 2nd grade student in the village school, he did not advance beyond basic studies and the reason for this was the foolish thought that why should he study when he himself owns so much land and a factory. He thinks that if his grandpa could manage two factories and a large land despite having little to no education, then why he can’t.

Not a bit of attention was paid to studies of Soban as compare to the attention that Zia-ul-Haq paid to the education of his two sons. But as soon as he moved from the village to the city, he got such an environment that his father had to focus on the education of Soban. Neha was three years younger than Soban, but both had to enter the same class. Neha was good in studies from early days while Soban was more interested in sports. Neha's hatred started filling in Soban’s heart after seeing a girl younger than him getting more marks. Perhaps this hatred would have been reduced or eliminated by their parents' good relations, but Shahina and Farkhunda dragged their parents' quarrels into this house. Shaina’s father Ehtesham bought twenty-six acres of agricultural land from Farkhunda Uncle Hashmat Dar, but Farkhunda father Talib Dar interceded. This became the cause of conflict and the conflict shifted from their families to Zia-ul-Haq's family. At first, the conversation between them stopped. Then by filling the ears of their husbands, they were forced to hate each other and in the end, they instilled in the small minds of their innocent children that for any bad example in their minds, they should remember their uncle, aunt and their children. Soban was inferior to Neha in the field of studies but being older he used to beat her without any reason. The two brothers got tired of the day-to-day chaos and divided the house into two parts. A few feet wall had divided not only the house but also the hearts and relationships of the residents.

Soban began to take revenge of home in school. Consequently he was expelled from the school. He was more enraged with this. He used to wait for Neha every day and would beat her whenever she came across him alone. On this matter, the two brothers fought many times, but a couple of times it even reached the point of hand-to-hand combat. Zia-ul-Haq was not unaware of their quarrels. At first, he tried to reconcile them with great effort. And his effort would have been a little successful, but he could not keep their mouth shut in constant quarrels and get sat quietly. Even so, if Farkhunda and Shahina try to make a bridge in gulf of hatred even a little bit then the matter would not escalate so much. But they kept pouring petrol on this fire all the time.

Finally Zia-ul-Haq had given up. Whenever he had to come to city, he preferred to stay in a hotel instead of staying at his Son's home. Although he was very much in love with Neha. Soban was also a piece of his heart. But his heart was broken because of their quarrels.

Initially, the two brothers used to come together in the ancestral mansion on the occasion of Eid, but when the quarrels escalated, they divided the two Eids without any negotiation. The elder brother would celebrate Eid al-Fitr in the mansion and the younger brother would go to the mansion on Eid al-Adha. Even at the wedding of distant relatives, if they met face to face, they would not refrain from speaking insulting phrases to each other. And then they grew up in the fire of this hatred. Ikram-ul-Haq had two daughters and one son. While Ehsan-ul-Haq had only one son.

Their BBA admission was done by chance in the same university. But now Neha had grown up and knew how to answer a brick with a stone. Their days and nights in the university were started passing in humiliating each other.

    * * *

Neha was lying on her luxury bed lost in a thousand worries. To her, marrying with Soban was like buying a ticket to hell. A person whom she hated so much? Who was the most hated man in the world to her? How could she marry him? The bitter events of the past days began to revolve in her eyes like a movie…..

    Me…?

    Yes, you...

Abbas stuttered hearing his name from Neha's lips.

Abbas! It is your name, isn't it? She asked politely.

Yes. Yes… My name is Abbas. He met his both hands with impatience. He had no illusions that the attractive rich girl would address him.

    Sit down.

She pointed to the chair in front of him.

    Abbas quickly sat down.

Tea or Smoothie? She asked casually.

    N...No... Nothing...

Abbas reflexively ran his hand over his head, stroking his tresses.

He considered himself the luckiest man in the world. Neha invites him for tea, of course she likes him. Otherwise, how can such a rich, beautiful and attractive girl give a chance to someone else?

Ordering the tea, she was attracted towards him. You know, Mr. Abbas! Why have I called you?

No, I don’t. He ran his fingers through his hair again and said in a meaningful tone.

Will you do a little work for me? For which I will also pay you.

Leave any compensation. I am in! My life is also existent for you. He spoke in a romantic tone.

Oi... You seasonal Romeo! Know your status. Do you know me? My name is Neha Malik. The richest girl of this University. I am telling you this because you can also benefit from it. If you get a few pennies, you can buy a new mobile phone; otherwise I know that you can turn on the mobile phone by putting paper in its battery pack.

Ms. Neha! I didn't mean that. Abbas stammered. Neha Malik's beauty and the fear from her rich family were such that the poor man could not give her any suitable answer.

Good. Neha said. At the same time waiter brought the cups of tea in front of them. By pushing the cup towards him, she started asking. "When is the match of our university's basketball team is planned?

He said excitedly. It’s happening tomorrow Ma’am! Our team has reached the quarter finals.

So what do you think, what will be the position of the team?

We will win! Our basketball team is very good.

Who is the best player in the two teams?

He answered quickly, Team's Captain Malik Soban-ul-Haq is the best player.

If I say the team should lose tomorrow match?

    But how is it possible?

I mean, if Mr. Soban does not participate, will his team still win?

No Ma'am...then it is very difficult.

So that's fine. You will not let Soban play the quarter final.

How can I stop him from playing?

    Fool! Use common sense.

After thinking for a moment, he said. I don't understand anything. Do you have any suggestions?

Take it. She extended a packet of powder towards him.

About half an hour before the match you manage to feed this to him, and that's it.

He asked nervously, Then what will happen?

He just won't be able to play the match.

What if something happened to him?

I’m telling you that, nothing will happen to him, he will just feel faint and after three or four hours he will be fine.

Look Ma’am! If I get trapped?

You are going to feed him with poison, which will get you trapped. Neha Malik made a sarcastic face.

Don’t get into fear. You are a brave young man. And then you are going to become the owner of a good mobile phone. She took out a white envelope from her wallet and handed it to him.

This is ten thousand rupees. After the work is done, I will pay you five thousands more.

Taking the envelope from her hand, he asked, What does this powder mix and drink it with?

In anything. Dissolve it in milk, tea, coffee, juice, water, etc.

I want to ask one thing more Ma’am!

    Yes, ask.

As far as I know, Malik Soban Al-Haq is your cousin?

    She shrugged nonchalantly. Then what?

But a person does such things to its enemies.

Rightly said. She nodded in agreement. There is no one worthy of hatred to me in this world than Soban. And of course you already know how much we both are against each other.

Sure, but I'm willing to get to the bottom of this hatred?

Maybe you don't need to know the reason. She announced the end of the conversation. For now, see this that I cannot see him receiving the winner’s trophy.

Ma’am! He will get the trophy even in the 5000 meters race.... He is an excellent athlete as well. And that competition will take place the day after Basket Ball match. By then will he be fine?

She smiled meaningfully. Surely you would like to earn fifteen thousand rupees more?

    Yes, but...

Leave if and buts. Interrupting the conversation, she took out another packet from her purse and by giving it to him she said, "You know the procedure. And you will get the rest of money after the basketball match. After saying this, she placed a hundred rupees under the tea cup and walked away. While Abbas started making plans of disposing off this money.

    * * *

    THE RIVALRY BEGINS

An hour before the match, both teams had reached the basketball court. Both teams started doing practice. Tall and strong Malik Soban-ul-Haq was an excellent player. Since childhood he was more in fond of sports then studies. He was an average student in studies who just passed without any cheating transcript. However, his performance on the field of sports was unparalleled. Apart from the university, he also participated in competitions on behalf of the basketball club.

An hour before the start of the match, Abbas came out of the basketball court and headed towards the cafeteria. And it was about half an hour before the match started when he appeared with a crate of milk bottles.

Let's have some cold, sweet milk from Sir Abdullah. He announced while entering the basketball ground.

Hearing his call, all the players gathered around him. He started giving one bottle to everyone. He handed over the first bottle to Malik Soban. And then seeing him pouring the bottle to his throat, a slight smile spread on Abbas's lips.

After getting all the bottles, he put the empty bottles in the crate and took it back. After reaching back to the ground, he started practicing with the team, but all his attention was on Malik Soban, who was passing the ball by changing different styles and tactics. A unique one with him inevitably being the best player.

Suddenly, Abbas saw Malik Soban heading towards the washroom.

There he goes. Abbas chanted heartily and looked around for Neha Malik in the audience. But the number of spectators was so large that it was difficult to find her.

The referee stood on the center line of the basketball court and blew a long whistle and the players of both teams lined up facing each other. The senior referee instructed both the teams to play well.

The team captains are called for the toss.

    Where is Soban?

He had gone to the washroom. You do the toss, he will come by then. Abbas quickly spoke on Ahmed's question. Ahmad nodded and moved towards referee.

The opposing team had won the toss. On the referee's request, the opposing team kept the same side for themselves; the spare players left the court and sat on the benches. Only four players of Soban's team were standing in the field as their captain Soban was absent and he was the fifth player.

Instead of sending a boy to the washroom, the team coach went there by himself. Abbas was also with him. Soban was seen standing by the wash basin with his hands on his stomach. And then before the coach's question he turned tail and quickly entered into a toilet.

What happens to him? His coach Mushtaq asked in a wild voice.

Abbas replied, pretending to think. Perhaps there will be an upset stomach.

At the same time, a sharp whistle sounded two to three times. His team was probably being asked the reason for the delay. Abbas peeked through the door of the washroom and looked towards the ground, but he could not see anything from there.

At that time, Ahmad reached there by running and said, "Sir... the referee is asking the reason for the delay?

Coach Mushtaq said, If this is the case, instead of Soban, you go inside the game by yourself. Later we turn in Soban and replace you.

He asked nervously, but what happens to Soban?

Probably he has a little pain in the stomach, there is no need to worry, and we are coming.

After saying this, Ahamad ran back. The referee's whistle was blown once again. After the toss referee could not tolerate any delay.

By the sound of applause, Abbas realized that the match had started. Soban came out of the toilet after 5 to 6 minutes.

Soban! What happened? Coach Mushtaq approached him anxiously.

I don't know. I just have severe stomach cramps.

But how at once? The coach was really worried.

Can't say anything sir! I would like to apologize. Saying that, he entered the toilet again. And coach’s concern began to grind his hands. At the same time, Abbas also felt a slight regret that he was responsible for all this. But then a currency notes started waving in front of his eyes.

After three or four minutes, Soban came out again and said to the coach. Sir! Please go. If I feel good, I will come and join the game. You are needed in the ground. After speaking, he once again turned towards the toilet.

Abbas and the coach returned to the court. First quarter play was over. At the end of ten minutes, the opposing team scored eight baskets and scored sixteen points, while their team was able to get only four points by making only two baskets. There were still thirty minutes left, but Soban’s team had lost heart. The team was dependent on Soban Malik. However, basketball is such a game that one player is the dice of the game which turns around the whole game and Soban Malik was like that. If he was in ground, the situation would have been different. Absence of Soban turned the opposing team stunned.

The court was sounding with chants, claps and whistles from the spectators on the opposite side. As soon as coach get there all the team members began to inquire about Soban, but they got no words of consolation.

The match was resumed and Soban’s team began to struggle again. They lost so badly that it was impossible to imagine. During the match, Abbas suffered from severe remorse. But nothing is going to be gained by regretting now.

The basketball court was echoing with the slogans of the opponents. No one could have imagined that Soban’s team would lose. But the impossible became possible. The prayers of the opposing team paid off.

The pain of losing the match was very intense. Accusations were made against each other in harsh words and the faults of others were pointed out. Before they tangled, the team coach silenced them.

Ahmad enquired loudly. "He hasn't come yet?

And all the players went towards the washroom to see him. Soban’s latrine journey was in progress. Seeing his pale complexion, everyone realized that he was seriously ill. On the order of the team coach, the boys supported him and then started taking him to the hospital.

The next day was the athletic competition. Abbas had made up his mind that he would not let Malik Soban suffer again. But his intention did not work because Soban Malik came to the ground but did not consider himself capable of participating in the competition. Despite the instigation of the coach, he refused to participate in the competition saying, Sir! Competition is taken to win, not to lose. And in this situation it is impossible for me to win.

As the athletic coach was also aware of his ill health, he did not insist him further. Seeing him healthy, Abbas breathed a sigh of relief. If something happened to him, he might never be able to forgive himself. Seeing him not participating in the race, Abbas felt a little nervous but was happy as Soban was not participating in the race without any effort. Although Neha Malik promise to pay the remaining amount after the basketball match but last day he could not meet her after the match that he stayed there until Soban was taken to the hospital and he recovered. However, being a player of the basketball team, his relationship with Soban Malik was friendly.

In the 5000m race, his university player got third position. As soon as the competition was over, Abbas headed from the ground towards the university library as he knew that Neha Malik would meet him there. He guessed that she might be there because her interest was limited to academic or related activities. She considered the game is a waste of time.

At that time, she was sitting alone on the corner table, absorbed in reading a thick book.

Hello! Approaching him, Abbas said softly.

She looked at Abbas in shock, and a slight smile appeared on her lips.

Oh Mr. Abbas! Come, sit down.

Saying Thank you. Abbas looked left and right and dragged a chair to sit in front of her. As a precaution, he picked up a book from the pile of books on the table and kept it open in front of him, considering that he wanted to keep his meeting with Neha Malik a secret from his friends. In a place like Library, the arrival of his friends was uncertain, but even so, he couldn't take any chances. Neha and Soban's enmity was not hidden from the eyes of anyone who knew them.

So you have come to collect the rest of the compensation? She interpreted, taking a repentant gesture.

He said, Yes... This was my intention ma’am!

    How was the race today?

Soban Malik has not been able to participate. And the man who took part in his place got on third position.

I have no interest in anyone else. She opened her wallet and gives the remaining amount to him.

Thank you madam! Looking left and right, Abbas quickly snatched the money from her hands.

Today, was he fed with that powder?

No... He was still feeling the weakness from yesterday. Abbas thought it appropriate to speak the truth.

She said while making a face, By the way, he is not as big a player as you people think he is.

    Had you seen yesterday's match?

I don't have that much spare time. But had seen.

Ma’am! Yesterday our team lost by thirty goals. While in the presence of Soban, we scored twenty goals against this team and they have lost by a clear margin.

Well, to hell with it. Now I don't want to waste your time anymore. Of course, she didn't like the compliment of him.

Ok ma’am! I might go now. He got up from there, growling. And she turned her intentions towards book again.

Sitting in the TV lounge, Soban was constantly changing the channel absent-mindedly. His eyes were on the screen but his mind was elsewhere........

He came to attend class on the first day after the sports competitions were over. The professor had not yet come to the classroom, while the students were engaged in gossip. After the arrival of Soban-ul-Haq, Neha started narrating the story of a Chaudhary's hunting dog in a loud voice to one of her friend. Her voice was so loud that many students were attracted to her.

So, when the rabbit ran out of its burrow, Chaudhary's dog got urine and the rabbit went out... Chaudhary again wandered in search of prey. Luckily, he saw a rabbit again and he untied the dog rope and put it behind the rabbit, but after taking a few steps, the dog started peeing again. And the rabbit goes here and there. Once again, hoping for a new prey, he moved forward and the target appeared again.
