Was it a sound that took you back? Was it a smell which made your heart race? The nightmares, the cold sweats, the migraines, and panic attacks that no one understands. Or is it depression that cripples you so bad, getting out of bed to take a shower is a victory? Th e anxiety is destroying your career, your relationships, and any hope you have left . Sometimes you get to the point where you begin to think staying alive is scarier than dying.
Trauma is its name, and killing you slowly is its game. Trauma is the infestation that works its way through the garden of your soul. Contaminating the soil, infecting every fruitful tree, and killing your flowers from the root.
Today my sisters and brothers, children of The Most High GOD,
we are starting a journey of healing. We are taking back our gardens and repurposing our soil.
This prompted journal tackles the three areas that trauma affects you: Spiritually, Mentally, and Physically.
Think of this journal as a workbook, another tool in your recovery toolbox. It is not to replace therapy, spiritual counseling, or medical directives from your physician. It is to coincide with all three to help heal the entire person.
I am not a doctor, or a therapist. I am a minister, wife, mother, retired US Army veteran. A person who has intimate knowledge of Trauma, PTSD, Depression and Anxiety. I am a woman with issues, but my GOD is the GOD of solving issues. This journal is a combination of the spiritual, and clinical things I continue to do on my road to recovery. It contains tips, and facts from the mental health professional community, and those who specialize in mental health pastoral care for the Body of Christ.
And lastly…
If at any time you feel extremely triggered. Stop. Put the Journal Down. Breathe… Healing and recovery is not a race; it is a journey. Give yourself grace and mercy while healing.
Take this journal with you to counseling appointments, so your therapist knows the things on which you are working.
