About this ebook

It didn't take Chance Mancini long to accept that she had let herself fall in love with Gavino Mancini, a man much younger than her. To make matters worse, after their marriage, he'd led her into a lifestyle she did not know of but she had come to love. He was her, Sir.

All was well and good until she found out she couldn't give him a family, and insecurity about their relationship hunted her like a hound dog sniffing on a hunt.

Chance ran away, only to be terrorized every night by her dreams.

Three years later, Gavino Mancini enters her life again to repossess what belongs to him––her heart and body.

    Let His Banner Over Me Be Love - Pat Garcia

    My beloved spoke and said to me,

    "Arise, my darling,

    my beautiful one, come with me.

    See! The winter is past;

    the rains are over and gone." (NIV 2011, Song of Songs 2:10-11)

    A CLOUD OF REDDISH-yellow dust whirled its way toward Chance Mancini as she sat on the steps leading up to her front patio. She coughed, choking on the dust. A shiver shot through her body and the hair on her arms stood up. On the outskirts of the small hick town, far away from where she wanted to be, the red dust ball that seemed to be getting bigger and bigger, was a warning that an unwelcomed, two-legged creature was about to invade her space.

    She watched as the black SUV surfaced, approaching the curve, then drove into it as if it were about to plow through the green hedges she had planted when she first moved in.

    Jazz-funk-fusion music streamed from the inside of the car. Loud and unruly, it shattered the tranquility she had been enjoying. Evenings with a red sky and the sounds of crickets, grasshoppers, and birds, quieted the anger she had hidden within herself.

    Whoever is driving that car must have missed the NO TRESPASSING sign. But, with music that loud, I would have missed it, too, she thought, shaking her head in disapproval. When the driver came out of the curve, they slowed and turned left toward her parked SUV. Its tires crunched the gravel of her driveway as it drove past her SUV and stopped, parallel parking close to the driver's side of her vehicle, hemming her in.

    Disquieted by the interruption, her breathing quickened. It was clear that the driver was not from these parts. No one ever parked on her property, and if they knew her, they would never park so close to her vehicle.
