Prologue
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many people around the world are staying indoors and watching more videos on YouTube, TikTok, and Netflix than before the pandemic. In particular, Korean dramas and K-POP have become more popular around the world, which has led to a greater global demand for learning Korean.
If you've recently decided you want to learn Korean, it's often hard to know where to start.
This book will serve as a guide to learning Korean effectively for such beginners. In particular, it will start with how to read Korean, including how the Korean language came to be, the structure of the Korean language, and then move on to learning simple essential Korean everyday phrases.
Also, in the final table of contents, I have compiled a list of Korean words and expressions that are commonly used in Korean K-POP.
I've been teaching English online and offline in Korea for about 15 years now, and I've met a wide variety of English learners. I've also worked with native American speakers who want to learn Korean, and I've taught them the basics of Korean.
This book is the result of my thinking about how to make it easier for beginner Korean learners to learn English while creating and planning numerous language learning content courses. Therefore, I am confident that readers who are slow to learn Korean and feel stuck will have a more concrete direction for their future Korean studies after reading this book.
Finally, I want you to create a specific motivation for learning Korean, because your own genuine motivation for learning Korean is the most important key to keeping you on track and having fun in the future. If you can do that, I'm confident that the value of this book will be even greater, as it will fulfill its main purpose: to help you learn Korean effectively and maximize your motivation.
