My name is Old Glory, but I have gone by many names like Stars and Stripes and the Red, White, and Blue. You probably know me as the American flag.
The story goes that in 1776, there were three gentlemen named Colonel George Washington, Robert Morris, and Colonel George Ross, who was the uncle to Elizabeth Betsy
Ross. They went to her with a drawing by Francis Hopkinson. They asked her if she could sew a flag based on the drawing. They knew that Betsy had sewn flags before. She agreed to do it. You may learn all about Betsy Ross in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the Betsy Ross House.
I was designed with symbols and meanings. My colors red, white, and blue have meanings. Red is for hardiness and valor. White is for
