Locale Settings

This setting controls the date/time formats, address, name, number fields. Default or Company Locale is set at the Organization level, but the User or Personal Locale is set at the User Locale settings. Company settings can be found at Setup Home >> Company Settings >> Company Information.

New users will always use the company default settings, but the users can override the company default settings in their own personal local settings. Users can do it by going to Setup Home >> User Settings >> My Personal Information >> Language & Time Zone.

Language Settings

Language Settings control the language of the Salesforce ORG. There’re two types of Language Settings.

The company default language settings is set on the Company Information page and will be applied to all new users. User language settings can override the company default language settings. Language Settings can be found at Setup Home >> Company Settings >> Language Settings.

There’re three levels of Language Support in the Salesforce.

Fully Supported languages will support all Salesforce features, such as Setup, User Interface etc. There’re 18 fully supported languages, including English, French, German, Spanish etc.

End-User languages will support translations for Standard Object fields. There’re 17 end-user languages, including Hungarian, Polish, Czech, Turkish etc.

Platform-Only languages will support some custom translations for standard fields. There’re over 100 platform-only languages, including French (Canadian), Georgian, Serbian (Latin), English (Australian) etc.
