E. Linda Cushner
Linda comes from a little town in Eastern, Connecticut and has been writing ever since she was 10 years old. Her career has always been in the Medical Field, however, she is aware that many people have had experiences that transcend human understanding. These occurrences or happenings cannot always be explained by science or religious beliefs. Indeed, she has also experienced supernatural occurrences several times. Perhaps, she states, there are thin places where God allows the supernatural to touch this natural earthly world. Linda considers this part of her ministry. In truth, her religion and faith have brought her to the understanding that not everything that takes place on this earth can be explained. Many things must remain mysteries.

Do you believe in angels? Have you actually ever seen an angel or felt the presence of an angel? Ancient manuscripts say that angels who visit us on earth are messengers of God. I believe in angels. Perhaps after you read this story you will too.
This book is dedicated to my family and friends and all who encouraged me to continue writing. Especially to my sister-in law, Barbara who is now with the angels. Our families shared so many joyful and wonderful holidays in the beautiful state of Vermont.

My special thanks to the Episcopal Church which has been so instrumental in guiding my journey here on earth.
For He will command his angels concerning you,
to guard you in all your ways.
On their hands, they will bear you up,
so that you will not hit your foot against a stone.

Chapter One
Heather
It is december in vermont. The softly falling snow is creating a white tapestry that is gently covering the little town of Westford. Holiday lights that decorate the main street are twinkling and playing peekaboo in the wintry haze. All is still. All is quiet. Suddenly a figure appears in the moonlit, silvery sky over the southern mountains that look down into the little town. The figure unfurls what appear to be feathery wings and begins to glide across the heavens toward the horizon just outside Westford. Gently and slowly, the figure comes to rest on the earth’s surface, landing once, twice and then it is gone fading into the panorama of the whirling, drifting snow.
At this precise moment, sixteen-year-old Heather Burbank is gazing dreamily out of the window in her bedroom. Perhaps her peripheral vision has caught a glimpse of a gossamer figure gliding across the sky. Perhaps at one time, she might have continued to search the heavens for another glimpse of this shadowy figure, thinking perhaps that it could have been an angel or a spirit or some other heavenly creature; but sadly, she turns away because she no longer believes in angels.
There is nothing there,
she whispered to herself. However, in the back of her mind, she begins to doubt and thinks that perhaps she should continue to look out the window and pursue the path of this strange hazy figure; but then she decidedly shakes her head and whispers again, No, there are no angels, because if there were angels, then Dad would still be here with us.
Her mind wanders back to a different time and space. She hears her father’s voice as he ruffled her hair and winked at her with those clear green eyes and said, Hi, angel, what kinds of plans do you have for your life today?
She sees him picking up her little brother and holding him way up over his head, and she sees her little brothers legs wiggling around and hears her brother’s chirpy giggles as he looks down at his father.
Heather,
her mother’s voice calls from the bottom of the stairs, interrupting her melancholy thoughts. Heather, Paul is on his way to take you to the dance in his truck. The temperature keeps dropping, and it is getting dangerously slippery out there. He should be here in about a half an hour, so hurry and get ready. Remember, I want to take some pictures of you before we leave. I want to show everyone just how lovely you are!
Heather spies her reflection in the antique oval mirror. She is wearing an ankle-length emerald green velvet dress that falls gently in luxurious folds over her slim hips. She chose the dress because it reminded her of the color of her father’s eyes. On her feet are the soft black leather slippers that she and her mom had searched for and finally found after an entire day at the mall. Her thick shoulder-length coppery hair is pulled back into a French braid and intertwined with a green velvet ribbon. Hanging from her neck is the gold locket that her father gave her that last Christmas. Heather touches the locket lovingly and begins to think of him again.
Oh, Dad,
she whispered to herself, tonight is such a special night for me. How I wish you were here!
Chapter Two
Heather and Jamie
Tonight is a very special night for Heather because she is going to her first formal dance at the high school. The best part, of course, is that
