This book is for the inquiring mind to know what the Hindu religion is about. At every point of one’s life, many questions and enquiries would visit the mind. What is life, what is religion and what is my role. How does one fit into the system as a well accomplished human being. This book would serve as a starting point for inquiring and understanding the Hindu religion.

THE HINDU RITUALS
Temple Worship
Rituals:- Rituals are the external way of worship by a devotee who is progressing on the path of God. It is a great truth that whatever external worship is performed during prayer, has a significance for the devotee’s inner development.
Bathing the Idols:- Abishegam shows the devotee that his external physical body should be kept clean, likewise his internal self by pure love and devotion. Bathing the Idol with milk, curd, ghee and 5 nectars, shows that as the body is made to feel beautiful and healthy, thus the mind must also grow beautiful and good by feeding it with good thoughts.
Dressing Idols:- By dressing the Idols with beautiful garments, the devotee personifies the beauty of God. In doing this the devotee feels happy.
Garlands & Singing:- In offering garlands and singing beautiful songs of praise, the devotee feels that he is entertaining a great person and he feels greatly honoured and happy.
Curtain in front of Idol:- The curtain represents the veil of ignorance that hides the inner vision of God. In addition, we must get rid of all negative qualities in us so as to see the truth which is within us.
Lamps:- It indicates that the one God gives life to the innumerable beings on earth. By lighting the lamp, it signifies the path of truth and righteousness.
