The Star Dwellers Saga - R. A. Scarborough
1.
The small six-man ship had left Camarian space three days ago and was following a beacon sent by Thorok. The pilot wanted to blend in and not be recognized as the clone of Thorok and so he had cut his main down and wore a hood to cover most of his altered face.
Then he began his hunt. He didn’t want to leave the home world without making sure a few lose ends weren’t tied up.
A light rain began to come down and the streets were empty except for a few coming and going from work, he was looking for someone and thought he had seen them walking down the street near the council steps.
REMO WAS ALMOST HAPPY that Thorok was gone, he was terrified that one day he would step outside and – he froze. Standing on the corner was Thorok. His hair was cut short and his skin was a lighter shade, but it was him. Remo turned and ran from the street and kept running he didn’t know where he was going or when he would stop.
But he still remembered being held in the dark and the fear wasn’t going away. He nearly ran into a parked sky sled when he decided to turn around, Thorok wasn’t there. He wasn’t anywhere on the street or walkways. The drizzle was starting to become a downpour and he walked into a building lobby, it was a peacekeeper building.
They were civilian law enforcement and could be armed and used as military at a moment’s notice. Remo sat on a chair and tried to keep calm. Thorok was dead and gone. He wasn’t coming back.
Do you need any help?
a tall grey alien from a species he had never seen stood in front of him and looked at him with concern.
Remo felt embarrassed. He was scared of someone who just resembled Thorok and he ran for his life, he laughed at himself and got up. I’m fine.
He said and walked from the peacekeeper building and outside, the rain had stopped momentarily, and he felt a slight chill. He was fine. He felt something strike him in the side and someone said.
Surprise.
He turned and saw the face he thought he would never see again.
Thorok.
He said, as he felt his throat seize and he fell to the cold walkway.
Hortek knew there was no real reason to kill him, he didn’t know anything, and it would just be a waste of energy, but it felt good to him. The need was met.
He knew who his next target would be and had an idea where she would be. Hortek walked through the alley and down a street behind the council hall. He knew she would eventually make an appearance.
Alde walked down the wide stairs and to the master hall and suddenly a bodyguard stopped her. Your aide is dead.
Hortek wasn’t ready for the body to be seen so soon and he changed his plan. He couldn’t help Thorok if he was sent to the stockade, so he left the capital and went to the spaceport.
He needed a few things, a way to keep the Alliance off him, which was easy since they didn’t know there was a clone. And a new name. he came up with Hortek.
Hortek followed the ship heading toward the world called Earth and hid there.

The small human army near the base wasn’t hard to infiltrate and he found what he was looking for, Thorok. He looked defeated. Hortek found his way to the lab where the cloning material was stored and scanned it, it was faulty. It wouldn’t stay stable for very long; he wasn’t sure if it was because the Cray was not to be trusted or if it wasn’t compatible with humans. Camarians were otherwise he would not exist. He wanted to bring this to Thorok, but he was gone before he could join him.
Hortek followed from a distance watching where Thorok was going, he was tempted to help when he saw the planet and knew there was no coming back.
He also knew there might be help in the Irrikus sector, he could get a few mercenaries together and take out the Alliance.
He left the area and went to a planet called Irrikus IV. He landed his ship and walked through the space port and went to a bar called The Gutted Chul.
It was a hole-in-the wall place with a small sign out front with a picture of a tentacled creature being attacked by an armored man with a curved weapon. It was carved from a metal he didn’t
