    Book Bound - Sarah Michaels

    introduction: the love of books

    the love of books

In a quiet, cozy town nestled between rolling hills and babbling brooks lived a rather remarkable young person by the name of Jordan. What made Jordan extraordinary wasn’t something you could easily see, like being the tallest kid in school or having the ability to stand on one hand, but it was something that sparked like magic in their heart: a profound love for books.

Jordan lived with their family in an old, sunflower-yellow house. The house was always buzzing with energy, as Jordan was the middle child, sandwiched between two sets of twins – the older sisters, Sophie and Sarah, and the younger brothers, Jack and Jason. Between the siblings' chatter, the dog's barks, and their parents' constant calls, silence was a luxury. And in such a noisy environment, Jordan found solace in the silent companionship of books.

From a very young age, Jordan was fascinated by words. It all began when they got their hands on their first picture book. Even before they could read, Jordan would spend hours flipping through the pages, enraptured by the images and imagining the tales they could tell. Their parents noticed this unusual interest and started reading to Jordan every night. It became a cherished ritual, eagerly anticipated by our young bookworm.

As Jordan got older and learned to read, the world of books bloomed before them. Words took on a life of their own. They could transport Jordan to far-off lands, introduce them to extraordinary creatures, and unravel mysteries that tickled their curiosity. From knights and dragons to astronauts exploring galaxies, Jordan could experience it all from the comfort of their cozy reading nook. Books, they thought, were magical portals disguised as mere pages.

And it wasn't just the stories that excited Jordan. They loved everything about books. The distinct smell of paper, the sound of pages turning, even the different textures of the book covers. Jordan appreciated books as objects of art, each one holding its own unique beauty and charm.

In school, while their classmates groaned about reading assignments, Jordan would secretly rejoice. English was their favorite subject, not only because it involved reading but also because it offered the opportunity to write. Inspired by the stories they read, Jordan began crafting their own tales. Adventures with pirates, encounters with aliens, and quests of brave heroes flowed from their pen. Their teacher, Mrs. Cooper, often praised Jordan's vivid imagination and knack for storytelling.

Despite their deep love for reading and writing, Jordan wasn't a stereotypical bookworm who always had their nose in a book. They played on the school's soccer team, enjoyed cycling around the town, and was known for their delicious chocolate chip cookies, a recipe they had found in one of their mom's old cookbooks. Jordan was also a nature lover. They often took their books outside to read under their favorite tree, a giant, old oak at the back of their house. The chirping birds and rustling leaves provided a peaceful soundtrack to their reading.

The neighbors, friends, and family often found it amusing how much Jordan loved books. At birthday parties, while other kids hoped for video games or sports equipment, Jordan's wish list was always filled with titles of books. Their room was a testament to their passion. Books were stacked on the desk, lined up on the shelves, and even piled beside their bed. Each night, Jordan would pick a book, not to read, but to sleep next to, as though their dreams could seep into the stories or vice versa.

One day, while engrossed in a fantasy novel, Jordan found themself wishing they could live in a world filled with books. They imagined a place where they could be surrounded by stories all the time, where they could help others discover the joy of

reading. And that's when the idea struck them. What if they could make a career out of their passion? What if they could
