DEDICATION: I dedicate this book to my dear friend and co-author Fritz Jaensch. In truth, this book is a prequel
to our later book The Unity of Truth
which Fritz, Fran, and I wrote together after Fran, and I finished the first draft of the present book. We invited Fritz to join our book writing project for two reasons; the first was, Fritz is a first-rate scripture scholar of both the Christian bible and the holy scriptures of several eastern religions. The second reason was at the time we invited Fritz to join our team, Fritz’s wife Stella had recently passed away and Fritz had sunk into a terrible depression. My hope was that being part of a new book project might give Fritz something to live for, and it worked! The three of us enjoyed the process of producing the Unity of Truth
which has since become a much-read book receiving high acclaim. Fritz passed away in early 2023.
INTRODUCTION
1) The Goal: There is only one truth, we seek the unity of the God of Christianity with the truth of the scientific understanding of the natural laws which govern our universe.
2) Christianity: The God of Christianity takes a personal interest in every human being. The personal involvement of God with God’s people requires that God MUST have a way of communicating with God’s people.
3) Science: Science is about how human beings came to understand God’s natural laws that govern our universe. Science calls human beings Homo sapiens
which means The wise men
.
4) We make a basic assumption that God will not change the natural laws of the material universe. However, God could change the natural laws if God chose to change them.
5) The prime question addressed by this work is: How does God communicate with God’s people without violating God’s own natural laws?
6) Always remember without a communication channel
to God, we would be totally unaware of God’s presence.
7) By communications what we mean is the exchange of information.
8) What is information? Information is an answer to a question.
9) Does information obey natural law? Yes, the smallest amount of information (a bit) requires the presence of a small, but measurable, amount of energy.
10) The conundrum: If God injects even the smallest amount of energy into our universe which is associated with one bit of information, the scientific law of conservation of energy
is no longer being obeyed.
11) A solution to this conundrum is found within quantum mechanics along with its striking denial of determinism.
12) Albert Einstein once said God does not play dice
was he right or wrong? Einstein also said that religion and science need each other, without science religion is blind, and with out religion science is lame. Einstein went on to say that science and religion are like two sides of the same coin, each is a part of the truth within the greater truth.
13) How does this point of view affect our understanding of quantum mechanics? The adoption of this point of view is what we are calling the God interpretation
of quantum mechanics, which is the title of this book.
14) What are examples of God communicating with God’s people?
a) The human central nervous system, including the human brain, is composed of neurons and synapses interconnected in multiple ways. There are as many interconnecting paths within the human nervous system as there are galaxies in the entire universe.
b) Mutations in the DNA of all living things depends on quantum mechanical processes. This means that all mutations of livings things are expressions of the Divine will.
c) There are no such thing as coincidences
, all random occurrences have meaning.
15) How can we identify an experience of God’s communications within our own lives? God’s messages always call us to a higher purpose. Our role as human beings is to recognize these messages as they occur and gratefully accept their purpose and intension.
16) Once recognized, are we required to follow what God is calling us to do? No, we all possess free will
and in the final analysis the choice to follow, or not to follow, God’s call, is ours alone.
17) What is evil? Evil is a force that is trying to convince us to indulge in the fleeting pleasures of our own biological emotions.
18) If we ignore God’s messages, who or what is in control our lives? Through countless generations of evolution our bodies have developed a series of motivational signals called emotions, which have through the process of natural selection become encoded within our DNA. These emotions promote personal survival and promote the survival of the race. If we choose not to listen to what God is telling us, it is very natural to assume that it is our emotions which speak the highest truth, and it is we ourselves
who are the highest and truest authority of our lives.
19) If we choose to listen to God’s messages what will change within our lives? God seeks to convince us to recognize there are alternatives to our own self-centered emotions. For instance, God calls us to replace our anger with patience, our fear with hope and courage, our greed with generosity and our lust with affection. Lives that experience only the human biological emotions are subject to decay and decline, while lives which experience the virtues of following God’s will are open to growth and experiences of pure joy.
20) How should we follow the path of virtue which is offered to us by God?
a) Seek to understand the teachings of our religion. Internalize the meanings of its teachings and follow them.
b) Seek to learn more about the discoveries of science. Remember it is science that is discovering
God’s own natural laws for our universe.
c) Train yourself to make decisions based on reason and prayerful contemplations rather than relying on the Snap judgements
which are encouraged by emotion.
21) Do other scientific discoveries, apart from quantum mechanics, possess a God interpretation
? Yes, here are some examples which deserve greater thought and careful attention:
a) Gravity makes it possible for matter to Clump together
to form stars, planets, and galaxies from which our lives have sprung. In science, the most general understanding of gravity is based on Einstein’s general theory of relativity.
b) The Big bang
theory of cosmology fixes the starting point of our material universe, and points towards an ultimate and natural end to our universe.
c) The quantum mechanical control of genetic mutations provides God with opportunities to Experiment
with new forms of life which may or may not flourish under the natural selection process which all life faces during times of changing environment conditions.
d) The finite speed of light will likely prevent us from contacting other advanced beings elsewhere in the universe. Perhaps it is out of God’s Divine will that we humans are to develop on our own, free of influences from other beings and other cultures elsewhere in the universe.
PREFACE
I want to share with you a wonderful story about faith and courage from the time of the Russian revolution. The story concerns the residents of a medium size city somewhere in central Russia which had recently come under the control of communist revolutionaries. An up-and-coming young commissar had been dispatched by the communist central committee in Moscow to bring over the newly acquired city into the soviet fold. The young commissar surveyed the situation and decided this city and all its inhabitants needed to experience a crash course in the advantages of communism and the evils of life under the czar. He had a stage built in the city’s central square and the next day invited (i.e. required) all residents to attend a lecture on communism which the commissar would deliver personally. Because he fancied himself a fair man, the commissar invited the local bishop to join him on the stage. The bishop was invited to say a few words of rebuttal in support of the old system. The young commissar reasoned that after he spoke to the crowd, nothing the old bishop could say would influence them.
The commissar spoke
