Capital City:
Bangkok is the capital City of Thailand. The estimated population of Bangkok, according to an estimate by the National Bureau of Statistics of Thailand in 2020 is about 10.8 million people. This makes Bangkok the largest city in Thailand and one of the most populous cities in the world.
Currency:
The currency of Thailand is the Thai-Baht.
Language:
The official language in Thailand is Thai.
Religion:
Buddhism is the predominant religion in Thailand, followed by Islam, Hinduism and Christianity.
Climate:
Thailand has a tropical climate, with hot and humid summer months and mild winter months.
Economy:
Thailand is one of the fastest growing countries in Southeast Asia and an important trade and production location for many multinational companies.
Tourists:
Thailand is one of the most popular destinations in Asia and receives millions of tourists from all over the world every year.
Food:
Thai food is world famous for their flavors of sweet, sour, spicy and salty. Mainly fresh products and ingredients are used.
Okay, okay, okay, here we have Thailand, the land of contrasts, from the green jungle regions in the north to sun-drenched beaches in the south. When you come here, the first thing that will probably strike you is the friendliness and hospitality of the people - that's why Thailand is also called the land of smiles.
But let's get down to the important stuff, like the food. Oh boy, you'll find a plethora of delicious dishes here that will blow your mind. From classics like Pad Thai and Tom Yum Goong to local specialties like Khao Soi and Som Tam, there really is something here for everyone. And if the food is too spicy for you, don't worry, they have enough coconut milk here to tone everything down.
Six regions and 77 provinces - that is Thailand
There are six regions in Thailand, each with its own culture and history. Did you know that these six regions are divided into 77 provinces? Yes, you heard that right. Here are the provinces associated with each region:
Northern region:
The northern region of Thailand includes the provinces of: Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lampang, Lamphun, Mae Hong Son, Nan, Phayao, Phrae, und Uttaradit.
Northeast region (Isaan):
The northeastern region of Thailand is often referred to as Isaan and includes the provinces of: Amnat Charoen, Buriram, Bueng Kann, Chaiyaphum, Kalasin, Khon Kaen, Loei, Maha Sarakham, Mukdahan, Nakhon Phanom, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nong Bua Lamphu, Nong Khai, Roi Et, Sakon Nakhon, Sisaket, Surin, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani und Yasothon.
