The year is 2121. In an old Las Vegas suburb, in a hidden underground black site PowerTeq bunker, converted to be used as a lab, this mystery location becomes functional after a timer completes its countdown. A cryostasis bed tube opens, and an individual undergoes the process of revival and reanimation. As he lies on the thin, half-upright medical bed, he is injected with a serum, and a chip is placed in the back of his head, near his upper neck, close to his right ear. He then is shocked, jolted by the same robotic arm that gave him the injection and placed the digichip in his head-and-neck area. As the subject comes to, an animated, simulated female voice begins to give instructions.
Wake up, SEVEN, wake up. It's time to join the fight. It's time to help save the world.
The voice repeats this phrase over and over again. Several moments pass before SEVEN opens his eyes. Things that were a blur initially come into focus. He groans and exhales heavily. He then draws his focus upon the huge screen in front of him. The screen has the words Place Hands Here with arrows pointing at a yellow button with a green-hand grid next to it.
SEVEN gets to his feet and staggers to the screen and giant computer column and follows the instructions given on the screen. Once he places his right hand onto the grid, he presses the yellow button. The room lights up fully. Several doors are unlocked, and a skylight opens where he is able to see the sun setting in the western sky. Then a projected hologram simulation of the woman he heard urging him to get up appears.
SEVEN, do you remember me?
she asks.
Vaguely,
he replies, but you're Nina, my sister. Where am I? What is this? Where are our parents?
The hologram Nina begins to explain to SEVEN what has transpired, who he is now, his protocols, his missions, and the reason for his reanimation and revival. Nina tells him that he is SEVEN, leader of Black Unit, the final protocol set up to intervene on behalf of humanity, protecting them from annihilation and extinction. Nina then explains the dire situation that the earth has gone through for the last hundred years and the state of humanity in the present day. SEVEN is told to step into the Blender, an advanced simulator that helps him know, understand, and use his abilities, gifts, and skills. After several hours of training, he steps out and faces Nina.
You are SEVEN—Specialized-Evolving-Vaccine-Enhanced Nanohuman—leader of Black Unit!
Issue 2
Memory Lane
"Noah Mathias Casum—that is who you were. You've been in cryostasis for over seventy-five years. According to when our father put you in, you're still only seventeen years old. When Father placed you in that capsule, he was hoping he would maybe take you out of it if war was minimal or averted altogether. But the war was inevitable. World War III started about ninety years ago and raged on for many years afterward. But it got especially bad about two years after you entered the cryo capsule. Now, humanity is becoming the minority.
The computers and nightwalkers have the most numbers now. Humanity is third in the pecking order. After us, comes the brood, androids and lastly comes the cyborgs, but the cyborg leader, Cyberial, has all intentions of converting both human and brood over to cyborg by full assimilation. Both the computers and the cyborgs are slowly sucking the life out of the earth.
SEVEN stares at the huge screen showing him all the things Nina is explaining. Nina goes on filling SEVEN in on all he needs to know, learn, and accept regarding his gifts and abilities, his adversaries, his protocols, his history, and the history of the members of Black Unit. Nina tells SEVEN that he is the most unique of the group, but all of them possess extraordinary gifts, skills, and abilities. She reveals that his special ability is called energy force and that he will have to master it to save the world.
She tells him that he can't access the power until all of Black Unit have pressed their power chip codes into the mainframe computer. That will unlock the dormant twenty-fourth chromosome within his DNA sequence. She also reveals that only he and Blackfire (Da'Nae) have the twenty-fourth chromosome, as they both survived their special vaccine trials. Nina then begins to explain that he and Da'Nae agreed to the trials with their father, Dr. Matthias Lee Casum. She then immediately explains that their father was killed by Cyberial in an attempt to overthrow the Supercomputer Allegiant.
She lastly reveals that their father was the inventor and creator of both the Supercomputer Allegiant program and the Project Cyborg. He wanted to protect humanity from humanity with these artificially intelligent creations, but they turned on humanity. Nina tells him that their mother escaped the attack and fled to Texas into hiding. Nina then says that their mother's name is Kyra Casum.
Once Nina concludes, informing SEVEN of past and present events, he enters the Blender for more training. As he's training, he begins to see flashbacks of his life in youth. His memories are beginning to come back.
The simulation of an obstacle course changes to a combat area full of androids. He begins to attack and strike with fierce force as he thinks about his mother and father. He begins to think of his days in the academy with his sister, Nina, and his girlfriend, Da'Nae. The simulation changes to a downtown area with nightwalkers. As he punches and kicks his way through them, tears begin to flow from his eyes.
He meets a big nightwalker, a bearlike humanoid, which he strikes across the face to no effect. The Bearman aggressively tries to slash at SEVEN, but his reflexes continue to quicken and improve. He punches the Bearman in the face, which this time does some damage, but at the same time, the Bearman lands a slash to SEVEN's chest. SEVEN flips away holding his bleeding chest only to look down and see himself healing. He then angrily uses his agility and speed for a retaliatory strike and hits the monster with all his might, knocking the monster from his feet.
Nina tells him to use his telekinesis to finish it. SEVEN takes an oil tanker from down the block, uses his right hand for telekinesis to lift it and, using his anger and pain to focus, throws the tanker onto the barely standing monster, killing it with the explosion. SEVEN is then attacked from behind as the simulation immediately changes with heavy laser fire coming from above. He takes cover diving into the newly simulated river in front of him.
As he's underwater, he starts to scan the sky and landscape around him, getting an idea of what he's up against. He realizes it's a fight with PowerTeq's Shock Squad, formulated by marines with enhanced abilities that wear powersuits in battle. The powersuits have different abilities—fire, water, sound, magnetic, stealth, roughneck, and sky suits with heavy artillery, flight abilities, and other different technologies that made them hard to defeat.
The suits were bulletproof, laser and photon resistant, anti-bomb armored and were resilient to weather elements. SEVEN then remembers that his father had a hand in creating them and knew both ways to render the suits beatable—use of pulsar electromagnetic pulse blasts or good old-fashioned knocking out the soldiers. SEVEN comes out of the water to go head up with the striking battalion, using his speed and agility to get the upper hand. He moves so swiftly that they cannot get a solid shot on him. He lands knockout blows on several soldiers before using his telekinesis to throw a pulsar EMP charge into their midst, shutting down the rest.
Nina says, Good job,
and the simulation ends there.

Allies
SEVEN steps out of the Blender looking down at his chest.
It's amazing what Father was able to do with you, brother,
Nina states.
I remember volunteering to go through the trials, to help him with his research, to try to undo what he did with the government. And I remember how hurt he was that he put us in danger.
It got worse after you and the others went into the cryo capsules.
The others?
Yes,
says Nina. You all volunteered because all of you had the genetic makeup to receive the particular vaccines that Father created to evolve each of your genetic codes. Each of you were able to upgrade in DNA, so to speak, an evolution of sorts—stronger, faster, smarter, with increased senses, powerful, unique, extraordinary gifts, abilities, and skill sets. Among all of you, yours and Da'Nae's were the most unique and promising.
Da'Nae?
SEVEN exhales passionately. Where is she? I need to see her. Is she okay?
She is like you, brother. You will have to go free her. She is in cryo sleep just like you were. The only difference is that she will need to be freed manually. Father put you on a timer to be freed first. Once you are advised, trained, and prepared, you are to begin your mission to unite the others and begin eliminating threats and stabilizing humanity around the world.
Where is she?
SEVEN bellows. I need to see her!
"SEVEN, remain focused. You and Da'Nae will meet soon enough. First, you will need to pay PowerTeq a visit. There is a free-minded cyborg there who doesn't know he is free-minded. Father programmed him with a vaccination sequence that Cyberial cannot read, feel, or uncode. The cyborg's name is BASCO. It means ‘Bionic Autonomously Specialized-Cyborg Organism.' He has the ability to not be assimilated by either Cyberial or the Supercomputer Allegiant. Neither of them has access to his digital neurons, nanoreactive brain cells, inner cerebral data processor, or foundational protocols that require him to always choose humanity and protect humans.
"Father placed all of those as his major protocols. That's why he fits in so well with PowerTeq. They use him as security for some of the top executives there. BASCO also has superstrength, extensive combat training, healing powers similar to yours, and the ability to shape-shift. Well, PowerTeq doesn't know he can do that. Once there and you find him, speak these words: Bionic Autonomously Specialized-Cyborg Organism, algorithm, SEVEN override. That phrase will reprogram him. It will take a few seconds. After he has asked for the new command, say, ‘Protocol and safety.' After that, he'll ask for a password. You'll say ‘Allies,' and he will be reprogrammed to be free and freely assist you and choose to follow your commands.
As you find the unit, have each of them do the same thing with BASCO except they are to insert their names where yours is in the initial sequence. BASCO will sometimes seem more human than humans, but remember, he is a cyborg, a brilliant, unique, creative, and powerful Supercomputer surrounded by flesh.
Nina then
