ANGEL’S VACCINE

Written by Spyros Rolakis

SUMMARY

Errico, an Italian from Milan, goes on a business trip to China. There, he is to come down with Covid-19 and fight for dear life. He has a strong mind and soul. The effort he puts in to save himself is staggering. Eventually, his body won’t make it, yet his mind, aided by his soul, takes leave the moment the body dies and, after a long journey, enters another two bodies, giving them a new lease on life. Errico’s cognition resuscitates the mind of Constantinos, who is in a coma after an accident, whereas his soul enters a baby that would be stillborn by the name Carolina.

Constantinos becomes a great author and Carolina an eminent lawyer in Paris.

Errico’s wife dies too of the same disease — almost at the same time. His children, Anita and Antonio, are left behind striving for their survival.

Having studied in Paris, Anita manages to become a doctor. She then undertakes to make a flu vaccine in a research centre in New York. Antonio makes his father’s dream come true as he becomes a football player with the Milan team.

Anita’s vaccine is so effective that it helps with all kinds of flu viruses and cancer through a simple technique. It’s an angel’s vaccine. It helps the immune system to face everything, since it brings mind and body together in a joint effort. A healthy mind in a health body. However, this will goad the pharmaceutical mafia into action as they want to steal it and make a killing. So, Antonio will be accused of being a gang leader who carves up football matches, in which Anita too is involved. After all, she is the target. They will deposit tens of millions of euros in her bank accounts and grease everyone’s palm in order to get them to testify against them in a trial that will take place six months after their arrest and detention. The Mafia will spare no expense in getting rid of Anita and stealing her work.

Constantinos, thanks to the condition of Anita’s father’s brain, will protect her. Appearing only towards the end, he will find a way to send Carolina from Paris to Milan as Anita and Antonio’s lawyer. It’s going to be a fierce battle and Carolina will do her best, along with her friend Rebecca, a lawyer from Milan, to support them. However, things are fraught with difficulties and the trial seems to be a losing cause, since there are so many crown witnesses.

Anita and Carolina support Constantinos, which means that, after thirty years, Errico’s cognition, soul and DNA get together again. However, this is not permissible.

The next day, Constantinos and Carolina will live a strong love affair and a divine love that will last only for a day.

The novel highlights the author’s philosophy on threefold existence. He believes that every human being is made up of a body, a mind and a soul. This threefold existence as well as the philosophical injunctions for a better life are described throughout the book and are written in the forbidden book that only Constantinos can read. In the end, he will hand it over to Carolina.

Preface

American academic and thinker Noam Chomsky wrote about some strategies on how to manipulate public opinion. The text is part of an anthology of interviews with Chomsky, where the eminent thinker makes some insightful comments on the institutions that shape people’s thinking and are in the service of power and profit.

In his analysis, he mentions the strategy of distraction, where the primary element of social control is the strategy of distraction, which is to divert public attention from important issues and changes determined by the political and economic elites, by the technique of flood or flooding continuous distractions and insignificant information. Distraction strategy is also essential to prevent the public interest in the essential knowledge in the area of the science, economics, psychoy, neurobiology and cybernetics.

According to the gradual strategy, one accepts something to an unacceptable degree, if this is applied only gradually for ten consecutive years. That is how radically new socioeconomic conditions (neoliberalism) were imposed during the 1980s and 1990s: the minimal state, privatisation, precariousness, flexibility and massive unemployment.

According to the strategy of deferring, an unpopular decision is presented as painful and necessary, gaining public acceptance, at the time for future application. It is easier to accept a future sacrifice than an immediate slaughter. First, because the effort is not used immediately. Then, because the public, masses, always has the tendency to expect naively that everything will be better tomorrow and that the sacrifice required may be avoided. Finally, this strategy gives the public more time to get used to the idea of change and accept it with resignation when the time comes.

According to the strategy of going to the public as a little child, most of the advertising to the general public uses speech, argument, people and particularly children’s intonation, often close to the weakness, as if the viewer were a little child or mentally deficient. The harder one tries to deceive the viewer, the more one tends to adopt an infantile tone. Why? "If one (the advertiser) goes to a person as if (s)he were 12 years or less, then, because of suggestion, they will get a response or reaction also devoid of a critical sense, just like that of a 12-year-old.

According to the strategy of appealing to the emotional side rather than reflection, making use of the emotional aspect is a classic technique for causing a short circuit on rational analysis and finally to the critical sense of the individual. Furthermore, the use of emotional register to open the door to the unconscious for implanting or grafting ideas, desires, fears and anxieties, compulsions, or inducing certain behaviours and so on.

According to the strategy of keeping the public in ignorance and mediocrity, making the public incapable of understanding the technologies and methods used to control and enslave is a telling example. The quality of education given to the lower social classes must be the poor and mediocre as far as possible, so that the gap of ignorance it plans among the lower classes and upper classes is and remains impossible to attain for the lower classes.

According to the strategy of encouraging the public to be complacent with mediocrity, the public is led to believe that it is fashionable to be stupid, vulgar and uneducated.

According to the strategy of getting to know the individuals better than they know themselves, it should be noted that, over the past 50 years, advances of accelerated science have generated a growing gap between public knowledge and that owned and operated by dominant elites. Thanks to biology, neurobiology and applied psychology, the system has enjoyed a sophisticated understanding of human beings, both physically and psychologically. The system has got better acquainted with the common man more than he knows himself. This means that, in most cases, the system exerts greater control and great power over individuals, greater than that of individuals about themselves.

The strategy of creating problems, then offering solutions is also called "problem-reaction-solution. It creates a problem, a situation, to cause some reaction in the audience, so this is the principal of the steps that you want to accept. For example: let urban violence unfold and intensify or arrange bloody attacks in order that there emerge security laws and policies to the detriment of freedom. Or even create an economic crisis to accept as a necessary evil a denial of social rights and a dismantling of public services. Something similar happens with countries. There is no harmonious cohabitation; on the contrary, the powerful ones try to impose their will on the weak ones and there is cut-throat competition. Very few things can unite all the countries. I personally know only of the Olympic Games, but there may be more events. This rivalry leads to the construction of nuclear weapons or weapons in general that can wreak havoc. People’s inventiveness in that direction has produced chemical and biological weapons, as long as mass destruction weapons are offered to a powerful state.

The Dream

I had a dream a few months ago. I was walking across a beautiful vast meadow. Actually, the place was a national park preserve. I was on my own and I don’t even know how I got there. Much as I tried to remember, I didn’t make it. On my right and left stood some extremely tall trees, while ahead of me sprawled a flat stretch of greenery. It was so beautiful. I strolled around for quite some time gazing at the landscape and taking in the beauties of nature. At some point, I got tired and thought of resting under a tree. I quickly checked a few before I chose the biggest one. I headed for it and sat on its root, which looked like a small seat. Under the tree were dry leaves, while the fragrance of the blooming flowers around me filled the air and reached my nostrils. A light breeze carried along this scent, making me rejoice.

It’s such a wonderful world! I exclaimed. I felt like my cells were vibrating to a melody of optimal musical unseens. All of a sudden, a gust of wind picked up, turning into a strong gale, and the dry leaves that lay under the tree began to fly. The wind picked up, bringing the leaves in front of me. They were actually hovering one metre above the ground in the direction of the meadow, where my gaze was initially fixed. I was surprised and curious to know where these leaves would end up. After a few yards, I was in for a bigger surprise as the leaves split into two groups, then vanished into thin air only ten yards away from me. In their place appeared what looked like two human figures wearing tunics, like the ones we saw on ancient Greek statues. One figure was wearing a yellow tunic, while the other one was dressed in a deep sky blue. What strange clothes! I exclaimed.

At first, I thought they too were going for a walk, just like me, but I was wrong.

Then, the figures stood opposite each other and began to bandy words, loud enough for me to hear them and understand what they were saying. They didn’t speak my language, nor did it sound like any other language I knew. Well, this was the last thing I expected. I heard a language for the first time, yet I could understand exactly what they were saying.

I’m going to kick your ass, you yellow-faced! said the blue figure.

You can’t. You owe me lots of money, replied the yellow.

I’ll take measures against you and crush your economy, continued the blue one.

You owe me, repeated the yellow figure. "First pay me the billions of dollars you owe me, then you can talk about me. Your external debt is huge.

Shame on you! yelled the blue one. I’ve got powerful weapons and, if need be, I’ll wipe you out. I can do it this way.

Shame on you too! yelled the yellow one. You’re not almighty. I too have weapons and I’ll react if you attack me.

Their saliva as they bandied words and hurled invective met in midair and mingled. Out of the yellow and blue spit, I saw a small ball form that swirled in the air. At some point, it fell on the grass, which was dyed the colour of iodine.

You see what you did? shouted the yellow figure. You brought the corona-colour with your stupid carryings-on!

It serves you right! said the blue figure. Now it will slowly gnaw at you until it wipes you out completely.

I’m not afraid of it, said the yellow one. I’ll wipe it out in a while.

From the distance, I saw what looked like a woman in a golden colour heave into view.

Come closer to see what the blue cunning one did, my dear Chrysiis, shouted the yellow figure.

What have you done?! yelled Chrysiis as soon as she saw the iodine colour on the green grass. Are you both nuts?

The blue figure gave Chrysiis an arrogant look and said:

All you do is take us to task and give us injunctions. We’re fed up with your wisecracks!

So, you’re fed up with my wisecracks, uh? You’ve contaminated the grass where the sheep will graze, then humans will eat their meat and this is what you have to say? I’m really mad about you did.

I’ll order the chemists to find a liquid that can dissolve the corona-colour, but first it should eat away at the colour of the yellow spirit, so that it sees sense, answered the blue figure.

Until this happens, we’re all in for a huge calamity. Get the hell outta here, both of you! Make sure you ask the chemists to find that medicine, so as to clean the green grass, for along with the trees it gives us life-saving oxygen. It’s not as simple as you think because it can spread very easily and contaminate the whole meadow. I’ll look for the angel’s vaccine.

I couldn’t believe my eyes. They suddenly vanished into thin air and I stood there all alone on the. Grass with the iodine colour/

As I looked at it, I heard footsteps behind me and in a while appeared before me a man dressed in white. I stoop from the tree root and reached out to shake his hand. He started talking without holding my hand.

As you can see, bringing together two powerful spirits cannot but create a powerful virus. It’s called coronavirus. Of course, lots of similar viruses are created very often, either out of quarrels or mistakes, but they wear off before they flourish. Still, this iodine colour is a big and strong virus. In a while, it will occupy Chin’s body, then that of Chad and Wuhan, who is the governor’s daughter. Then, it will travel everywhere through people’s bodies, on board ships and planes, with thousands of bodies turning into cadavers. Lots of people will feel pain because of the very mistake these two spirits made. People will lose their loved ones and shops, businesses and temples will close down. Many countries’ economy will be damaged.

Will it enter my body as well? I asked in horror.

It will enter your body, but not your mind. You have a rare special mission to fulfil with your mind.

Freedom is a virtue; your accomplishment in life.

The Coronavirus

I woke up from that weird dream in fright and looked at my watch. It was six on Monday morning. I had set the alarm at seven but, after that dream, I woke up an hour earlier. I would have to be at the airport in four hours as my Alitalia flight bound for Beijing left at eleven sharp. I would be flying for China on business.

I got out of bed very carefully, so as not to wake up Lia. She was sleeping like a bird beside me, her face looking so serene. I went to the restroom where I shaved and had a bath before I went down to the kitchen. I was dying
