A Case of Reincarnation - Yvonne do Amaral Pereira

    Introduction

This volume has an account that appeared in the editions from September till December 1979 of the periodical Reformador, the official organ of the Brazilian Spiritist Federation.

Its author was one of the most respected mediums in the Brazilian spiritist movement  — Yvonne do Amaral Pereira — whose excellent mediumistic abilities, cultivated according to the principles of Christian spiritism with the help of spirits most respected in our circles, produced literature that does not only in every way honour the divine doctrine which inspired it, but above all achieves the goal of its spiritual sources of revelation, that is, to teach, edify, lift morality, console, and attract people to observe the Law of God.

It is not necessary for us to say anything about this moving story now appearing again in book form. We do not need to say anything because it has its own eloquence to convince us of the great truths of the Consoler promised by the divine master Jesus. Among those truths reincarnation stands out as an expression of the infinite compassion of God with us, the souls on Earth, unchangingly bowed down under the weight of disobedience to the divine Codes, for that very reason, obliged to make the inevitable repairs.

We are also pleased, in this modest presentation, to draw our dear readers' attention to the fact that through Yvonne A. Pereira, and by the way through all the great mediums in Brazil, the Higher Spirits guiding our country's spiritist movement, is confirmed the intimate exciting link between the ideals of the Gospel, spiritism and Esperanto. It shows that they are the columns supporting the construction of the Future, when societies will enter la New Era of universalistic life.

With respect to that luminous trilogy let us remember what la spirit Abel Gomes thought in a communication dictated to Francisko Cândido Xavier on 30th August 1948, as published in the November edition of Reformador in that same year, and published again in that monthly review in February 1989:

"Our password to the comrades stays the same. Gospel, Esperanto, and spiritism at present constitute for us the blessed trilogy of work in several incarnations.

"Through the Gospel we shine new light into the collective conscience, cooperating in the salvationary mission entrusted to Brazil for the revival of restored Christianity. Through Esperanto we open us to souls and to peoples a new way to real fraternity so that Christian ideas may consolidate their guidelines in the most varied fields of action throughout the world, preparing the coming millennium on more just bases of genuine tolerance and solidarity. Through spiritism we open up new horizons to general vision, so that edifying understanding may dominate the mentality on Earth, in all phases of evolution, leading all creatures to human dignity and an essential recognition of justice that prescribes that every person receive according to his or her deeds.

As we see, the program is vast and demands not only the enthusiasm of the neophite but also the courage and abnegation of an apostle.

Forty years later, during a meeting of the National Federal Council of FEB taking place in Brasilia en 1987, the Spirits set off the clairvoyant mediumship of Divaldo Pereira Franco and he showed a beautiful, suggestive picture of that same trilogy, according to a report in the February edition of Reformador en 1989:

Divaldo also saw a picture in which the Spirits Ismael Gomes Braga, Francisco Valdomiro Lorenz, Estevina Magalhães, Abel Gomes and Porto Carreiro Neto show an illuminated strip in which in a triangle we see the three letters E (EEE) of Evangelho – Espiritismo – Esperanto (Gospel, Spiritism, Esperanto). In that way they thanked the Brazilian Spiritist Federation for raising the banner of Christian spiritism, of the Gospel and of Esperanto in the last Universal Congress (the 72nd) which invoked the hundredth anniversary of the message of Zamenhof.

And now, to close, it is worthwhile to add a few words about the institution which arranged the issue of this book, small in format, but in content vast, inconformation of the popular saying that the best perfumes are held in small flasks.

The Spiritist Publishing Society F. V. Lorenz, an organisation of Esperantists-spiritists that dedicate themselves to the threefold ideal EEE, was founded the 15th of December 1975 with the goal of spreading Esperanto among spiritists and spiritism among Esperantists. To its other activities the organisation added publication of books in Portuguese on the spiritist doctrine to finance its publications in Esperanto and
