The Gold Star Kid: And The Dream Angel
()
About this ebook
This careful and most sensitively penned work explores the issues that arise from armed conflict. This is very much a children’s novel, suitable for all ages, but it is also a book that parents can read to their children. It does not condone nor condemn, it creates a breathing space for contemplation, a pause for thought, a chance to answer the questions raised within.

THE GOLD STAR KID
&
THE DREAM ANGEL
A delightful children’s fantasy story and audio book written and performed by the British singer/songwriter, Jonathan R. P. Taylor, and wonderfully illustrated in watercolour by Bulgarian artist: Monica Mars.
War is a tragedy of human existence. This careful and most sensitively penned work explores the issues that arise from armed conflict, and the pain, loss, suffering and grief it leaves behind. This is very much a children’s novel, suitable for all ages, but it is also a book that parents can read to their children. It does not condone nor condemn, it creates a breathing space for contemplation, a pause for thought, a chance to answer the questions raised within. Above all, it leaves us with a sense of hope. A happy ending where we discover that recovery from loss is possible, and a new life of happiness can be born again.

Myles Eckert, a boy of just 8 years of age from Ohio, USA, looked down at the tarmac of the Cracker Barrel carpark at the Ohio Air National Guard near Toledo. There on the floor beside him, sparkling upwards in the sunlight towards him, he saw an old twenty dollar bill.
His thoughts immediately turned to the purchase of a new video game, but whilst sat beside his mother awaiting his food and pondering over his options, his eye was drawn to the attention of a soldier. This army man’s name was Lt. Col. Frank Dailey, a member of the Air National Guard.
