CHAPTER 1

It was a lazy evening. After a long hard day’s work, Jim Paterson stumbled out of his office to catch a bit of fresh air at his balcony. He awaited the arrival of his friend, Frank. The poor soul was an integral part of Jim’s life and their bond has reached the high heavens. Two creatures forged by love could no longer live apart. Jim was an immense creature in good shape. The innocent balls that sat on the sockets of his skull were brown and his head shaved like an egg.

Jim stared at the outside world. A lady whom he had known alighted from a blue cab at the other side of the deplorable road. From his corner at the balcony, Jim could see the major road as it links his part of the town. And continues into the other side of the underdeveloped world. The road was an unnecessary evil. It reminds the dwellers that life in the clime was a disaster and many are scraping through.

The dual lane clothed with coal tar is in the heart of the town that faced where Jim located his office. It was a reflection of the people and their pains. Next to his building, were shops built inside three plots of land. And about three or more bungalows erected on each of the plots of land. Still, there was room for a car garage in each of the buildings.

A mechanic workshop shared a boundary with one of the bungalows that was near the road. The mechanic shop is a few poles away from the road. It's the first thing a poor soul would see
