The Busy Witch
A Guide for Modern Witches
By: Faith Sloan
Introduction
The purpose of this guide is to provide a quick reference for metaphysical practitioners who want to add a touch of magic to their lives without spending a lot of time on lengthy, elaborate rituals. It is important to remember that all spells use some form of energy. You, your crystals, the planets, and the deities you work with all emit energy. Make sure you have some to spare before starting any major spellwork. Try to calm yourself, relax, and carve out a few minutes that you can completely focus on the task at hand. Spellwork needs your attention and intention to work!
In this guide there are spells that help with protection, descriptions of stones and crystals, deity communication, correlation with color usage runes, and sigils. Enclosed are a collection of ways to deal with everyday problems in a witchy way!

Protection
What is a protection spell and how do I use one? A protection spell is used to protect the intended person from negative energy, vibrations, people, places, and entities. Ways to protect your home and the people inside of it are abundant! In the following pages of this chapter you’ll see spells you can do to protect yourself and your home preemptively. Creating a ward, protection sachet over doorways, sigils on the windows and mirrors are great ways to keep things out.
Protection for yourself should be observed during any and all spellwork, deity communication, ancestor work, or anything at all related to the Craft. Protection can be shielding yourself, setting boundaries with deities, cleansing with incense, and wearing protective items. Be confident, but respectful of any item or entity you work with. You deserve peace, protection, and respect and should return it in kind.
Home Protection Jar
Some items may be substituted. Rosemary substitutes any herb, clear quartz for any stone, white sage for any incense, olive oil for any oil. Think of these items as blank slates, waiting to be charged with your energy and intention.
Salt (table salt or pink himalayan salt or black salt if you have it)
Small glass jar with a lid (cork lid is preferred but not required)
Rosemary Sprig (rosemary seasoning also works)
Rose quartz/amethyst/clear quartz (any or all of these work)
Lavender (for a peaceful, calming effect on your household)
Black or white candle (black is preferred but white is a stand in for any color)
Whole bay leaf (you’ll be writing on it)
