The Psalter of Our Lord: An Improvement of a Timeless Jesus Prayer
()
About this ebook
The Psalter of Our Lord is a simple silent and contemplative prayer that is a synthesis of two Christian prayer traditions, namely the Jesus Prayer which originates from the Eastern Christian tradition, and the Rosary Prayer which originates from the Western Christian tradition. The harmonious blending of elements originating from these two prayer traditions not only results in a completely different new prayer but also results in a prayer that can be practiced by all Christians, regardless of class. Thus this prayer has a distinctive character, namely, it can be a means to build a spirit of Christian unity.
This prayer takes the name 'Psalter' because it consists of 150 repetitions of the classic Jesus Prayer according to the number of Psalms of David. The use of the name 'Psalter' is meant to show the character of this prayer as a spiritual weapon. Like the stone-slinger that David used to defeat Goliath, the Psalter of Our Lord or Psalter of Jesus can also be a spiritual weapon for all Christians in their spiritual war against the dark forces and their followers.

Chapter 1 – Introduction
The Psalter of Our Lord or Psalter of Jesus is a simple silent and contemplative prayer that is relatively new. Nevertheless, this prayer is firmly rooted in the very old tradition of Christian prayer. About the silent prayer St. Teresa of Avila put it this way, Silent prayer is the foundation of all forms of prayer.
Meanwhile, about the contemplative prayer St. John of the Cross said, Contemplative prayer is ...an affectionate gaze upon the mysteries of Christ.
Thus the Psalter of Our Lord prayer is a simple prayer practiced in silence in which we gaze lovingly at the mystery of Christ.
The Psalter of Our Lord began to be introduced to the public and at the same time practiced online through the YouTube channel Crusader Network
around 2017. But in a limited way, this form of prayer has been known and practiced since the mid-1990s (more than 25 years ago) by a group of Catholic youths in Bandung, even though at that time the format was still very simple and did not yet use the name Psalter of Our Lord
or Psalter of Jesus.
The Psalter of Our Lord is a simple prayer inspired by two Christian prayer traditions, namely the Jesus Prayer which comes from the Eastern Christian tradition, and the Rosary which comes from the Western Christian tradition. The harmonious blend of elements originating from these two prayer traditions produces a new prayer that is completely different. In addition to absorbing the virtues of the Jesus Prayer and the Rosary, this simple prayer can also be a means to help build a spirit of Christian unity.
The aim of this book or video series is to briefly introduce the Psalter of Our Lord as a simple contemplative prayer which deeply rooted in the Christian prayer tradition. Amid an increasingly secularized world, many Christians are experiencing a spiritual dryness and are trying to reach for anything spiritual to fulfill their thirst. But it's a shame that many fall for fake spiritual movements that can harm faith such as the charismatic movement, the new-age movement, and also other forms of spiritual practice from pantheistic eastern religions. Therefore, the presence of a simple, silent, and contemplative prayer that is firmly rooted in Christian tradition and can build a solid Christian faith like the Psalter of Our Lord is needed.
As Christians, we also need to remember that since the Book of Genesis, God has put enmity between the woman and her offspring against the snake and its offspring (Gen. 3:15). That is, until the end of time, we will always be in a spiritual war against the dark power and its followers. Consequently, we need spiritual weapons. St. John Chrysostom said, Prayer is a shield to the soul, a sacrifice to God, and a scourge for Satan,
so it can be said that the spiritual weapon for Christians is prayer. Thus the Psalter of Our Lord prayer can also be a spiritual weapon for us in this spiritual war. Even later in this book or video series, it will become clear that this Psalter of Our Lord is a great spiritual weapon.
In addition, one of the biggest problems of Christianity is the division that has been going on for centuries. Currently, Christianity is divided into three major groups: Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant, which unfortunately is still divided into tens of thousands of smaller denominations. How can
