This book is a biography of Guillermo Ramirez-Correces. An unknown person to many and who had the assignment given to him by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Philippines to start building schools, hospitals and the corporate headquarters of the South Philippine Union Conference with only a degree in history and experience as a draftsman and as a construction foreman. He  died of lung cancer at the age of 69 due to exposure to sawdust and plumbing fumes caused by the lack of safety protocols not adhered to during his days. 

His brief work at West Visayan Academy, revealed that the Academy was situated in flooding grounds and since his time he advocated that the school be moved to a new location so that the school would grow more progressively. His construction of Mindanao Sanitarium & Hospital spurted the growth of the health ministry with the Health Gospel ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and the building of Mountain View College on the top of a plateau which was thought by many politicians in Bukidnon as a crazy idea for building a school has become an example of the SDA's cornerstone of a Christian School in these times when city corrupting influence and urbanization could become a corrupting influence on the youth when they go to schools in the city. Southern Mindanao Academy now South Philippine Adventist College started from the school in Managa that was an academy but became a college during the Presidency of Pastor Diaz with the South Philippine Union Conference, signifies the bold vision of leaders in the South despite the odds against them.

Gilbert Correces

Gilbert Loyola Correces graduated with an MSW from the University of the Philippines through a Lewis Lim Scholarship. When he immigrated to Canada, he upgraded himself with EDP and computer programming at York University Continuing Education Programme and worked with the government and private sector in Information Technology as a Business Analyst and Systems Coordinator. He has also past experience teaching high school and Elementary School. Before retirement he worked as a Medical Caseworker and as a private practitioner RSW counsellor. He is currently retired and lives in the City of Toronto, Canada. He enjoys biking, writing and looking after one of his 8 grandchildren.
