Autism Awareness - Barbara Wise
Autism: What Causes It?
When a doctor tells a parent that their child has Autism, the first and most pressing question that comes to mind is, How did it happen?
How did my child contract this illness?
As for the precise causes of Autism, there is no conclusive answer. However, academics and doctors are working on a variety of possibilities. Autism is shown to be more common in boys than in girls, which is surprising.
Autism was once thought to be caused by emotional trauma. With adequate study and analysis, these criteria were shown to be false. As a result, poor parenting was added to the list of factors. According to the experts, one issue was mothers who didn't show their kids enough love and attention.
The genetic theory of Autism's causes is the most widely accepted. Some scientists believe that people are predisposed to becoming autistic from birth. Later, they become autistic due to environmental stimuli. They claim multiple genes can cause Autism, although they have not yet been identified.
There is evidence that the environment has a significant influence on Autism. According to studies, tiny communities with high levels of pollution and chemicals are home to many cases of Autism.
Typically, the air in towns close to industries or industrial zones is exceptionally hazardous and causes Autism in young children.
Mercury is included in another intriguing theory for Autism. They claim that since Autism was first recognised about the same time vaccines were administered, the mercury in the vaccines was to blame.
The mercury or thimerosal in vaccines today are negligible or barely detectable. If the child does not receive these vaccinations, there may be several potential hazards. Therefore, there is no justification for blaming vaccines for Autism and avoiding them instead.
Eating a lot of fish or being exposed to industrial pollution might result in high mercury levels. According to research, there may be a connection between autistic moms and their unborn offspring. The researchers are currently examining the mercury exposure of expectant mothers. They plan to conduct additional research on newborn children. This would enable them to keep track of whether their theory is validated or not.
Additionally, some underlying medical conditions are associated with Autism. It is believed that kids with conditions like Fragile X Syndrome and Congenital Rubella have an increased risk of developing Autism.
Another idea is that of metabolic imbalance. According
