de de Cox

Born and raised in Rooster Run, Kentucky, Deanna (de de) Cox, grew up reading romance novels. She and her sister, Casonya, would discuss the books and ponder what they would write, if the opportunity ever arose. At the age of 30, de de began to write her first romance book. But as in life, circumstances change and life moves you in a different direction. The direction led de de into the charitable industry. She is actively involved in Make a Wish Foundation, Blessings in a Backpack, Spalding University, Toys for Tots, The Molly Johnson Foundation, Indiana Bulldog Rescue Foundation, and volunteers with numerous other charities. She is also a prelim director in the festival and America pageant system. At the mature age of 35, her only child was born, Isaiah Bo. His name is taken from Isaiah 40:31. Bo is the actual cover model for the book Two Degrees One Heart. When de de began writing the book, she had no idea she would have a son, and never imagined Bo would be on the cover - a book she had written before he was even born. de de feels that everything is in God's timing. Her second son, Matthew Tracy, came into her life to complete her family. She has been married to Scott Cox, her best friend from high school, for over 30 years. We are a society that impatiently waits for patience. de de continues her passion of writing romance books, for where would the world be without love?Always remember Acts 20:35.

    About the Authors

    Dedication

There are always those folk that GOD places in your life at a particular time for a special reason. There are two that I must dedicate this book to: Makayla Post and Mary Carter.

From the very first time, I met Makayla at a preliminary pageant with her grandma (Miss Betty) and mom (Amanda) and family, I knew that a bond would be created. Not just for that day, but into the future. She continued with myself and Kimberly Ball into the festival pageant system and made a huge impact. I have never heard her say the word NO when it comes to volunteering and helping others. I have been blessed, honored and humbled to know this young lady for more than ten (10) years. I love this young lady with all my heart. I cannot wait to see the doors that GOD will open for her. And the best part of all, we are now co-authors together. The journey and the adventure have only begun. (Acts 20:35)

When I received the FB message request, I had no idea what was about to transpire BUT God did. HE knows when there are those folk that just need to be placed in your life. She is one of those. She’s just good folk as my grandma would say. Mary Carter, where do I even start? How can I ever say thank you for your kindness, your support, your responses and more so, that ONE inquiry of What’s your next book gonna be about because I think I have your model. Little did I know or realize the outcome that this FB message would have on my life and the production crew. From the very first time we met Mary and the model and her family, it was meant to be. My grandma used to tell me there are all kinds of folk that will be placed in your life. You will know when folk are genuine and real. You will also know when folk care about YOUR dreams and not theirs. Mary Carter and the Meeks family, from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet – thank you. (Acts 20:35)

    Prologue

Each night she would come to this spot. This had been their spot to discuss the next day’s goings on. Looking up into the dark sky, her eyes searched. For what, she had no clue. Would the hurt ever fade away? Would there ever be a day that was just dull and boring? Would normal ever exist? It had been two weeks, and the pain was still raw.

The moon was brighter this evening than most. Whitley’s strength came from these walks. This was the time her spirit was born again. Whitley Dawn Steele shook her head. She did not know if she could shed one more tear. No one could have known that she would not wake up. She slid down to rest her body against the fence. Lawd, she was not just tired, she was plum tuckered out.

There was no one to comfort her. To tell Whitley that everything was going to be okay. The farm was hers. As she had promised her since she was a little girl, she had left the farm to her, with all the attachments, and that meant the horses, too. This was how she had made a living in a man’s world. The horses were her babies, her pride and joy. This farm and those magnificent creatures were now in the care of Whitley’s hands.

She would not disappoint her. She had trained Whitley in the management of the farm – the Midnight Moon Ranch. The she was her grandmother. Whitley had adored her grandmother, and she had learned from her the daily management of the farm and, specifically, the breeding of the mares. The advice given had been free and with the understanding that questions should always be asked if she did not agree with her grandmother. Those times were few and far between.

As she sat there feeling sorry for herself, she felt the cold nose nuzzle her hand. Milo. No bigger than a minute, Milo had become much more than a rescue. Whitley knew that Milo would never leave nor betray her. All Milo asked in return was the gentle rub behind his ear and to sleep with her. Typical man.

She cupped Milo with one hand and reached for the fencepost to pull herself up. She kissed Milo on his little nose and whispered We are going to be okay. We have to be. We have no other choice.
