    The N.F.L. added a fourth official, the Field Judge, to the umpiring crew. The top team in the standings was declared the N.F.L. champion. Tied games were not counted.

    The Packers refused to play their last game against the Portsmouth Spartans. They wanted to stay in first place. This led to major changes in how games were scheduled.
