About this ebook

Mathew Kemp, a model citizen of the new world, turned against organized religion. Following the Elite Society Watchers' plan to erase all things religious, he embarks on a quest to find those that do not conform to the new world order. Working for the Harding News, the country's largest news agency, gives him the chance to become a roamer reporter, getting close to those that do not conform. In a world where computer chips are put in the right hand to identify and track all human activities, Matt is willing to risk his life to expose the nonconformist groups. His eagerness puts him in harm's way and introduces him to the Christian life. Christians are being rounded up and executed. Matt is involved, yet learns his enemy is his friend. Matt's journey exposes the truth in a world where his thoughts and beliefs have betrayed him. This leads to Matt's Revelation""one man's journey through life-changing events that show him the truth in a world turned against religion.

The parking lot was quite full this evening. Everyone was getting ready for the big game this weekend. The walk to the doors seemed to be a mile away. Getting closer to the doors, the sounds of the sirens became audible, although not at all unusual this close to the city. As the doors opened, the same familiar female voice came over the speaker, Good evening, Mr. Matt Kemp. You are due to purchase your monthly supply of toothpaste. Your order will be at the checkout teller when you have finished shopping. Matt was not here to walk around shopping. He was going straight to the special order tellers.

As he turned and looked down the long aisle, he saw two figures running in his direction with several others chasing them. Matt froze in his tracks and in an instant the two young men were close enough to touch. He had heard the yells from those chasing to Stop them! so Matt shoved the closest one into the other, causing them both to tumble and crash into a display stand. Matt was amused and amazed at the same time. The display stand was for the game coming up and the athletes in cardboard looked as though they were in action with the two crashing and scattering things about.

The chasers caught the pair quickly and one of them thanked Matt for the assistance. Matt walked away with a small crowd of lookers gathering around to gawk at the action. No one noticed Matt walk away.

Matt then went to the special order tellers. The teller at the far end was empty, much to Matt’s surprise, and, as he approached, the teller automatically welcomed him. Matt knew no need to reply was necessary, yet he did so in a soft low voice out of habit. The teller screen then came alive with an animated female who then asked for true confirmation of Matt’s identity. Matt then placed his right hand directly over the screen and face of the teller.

As he waited, the thought ran through his mind, wondering why he had to go through the motions of identity when the teller knew his name to begin with. Seconds later, the teller asked, What can I special order for you today, Mr. Kemp?

Matt scrolled down the screen until he came to the K packages—these were large boxes with prepackaged assortments of food and liquors for a specified number of people. Matt was going to have several of his friends over for the game, as well as his new girlfriend, and he wanted to impress them.

He found several choices but was afraid they just weren’t enough to impress. He then picked for more choices and a line came up for the ultra packages. He selected to view them and two came up. He picked one, and the screen asked for a special code for ordering. Matt cursed under his breath and, at that very moment, looked to his left to notice the figure approaching the teller next to him. He took a double look and immediately straightened his posture. Before he could say anything, the man spoke, Hello, you’re Matt Kemp, is that correct?

Matt was stunned and shocked. Feeling his throat close, he was afraid he couldn’t speak. He was looking at James Harding, the man who owned the news network he worked for. Matt was able to shockingly say Yes, sir. I am Mr. Harding.

I have just been in a meeting and reviewed your file. You want to be an outside reporter, is that correct?

Yes, sir. I sure would. I have written several—

Oh yes, Mr. Kemp. I was just going over them. I will meet with you later in the month. Are you getting all you need from the teller?

Well, I guess, I need a code to get the better K boxes. I didn’t know about that. I have never ordered them before.

Harding leaned in close to Matt and in a low voice told him, My favorite is the 75100KD. If you put the D on the end, they will deliver it so you don’t have to carry it out. You know that could get you robbed by the C group.

Thank you so very much, Mr. Harding. I—.

Not to worry. I’m sure your friends will be impressed.

Matt then entered the code that James Harding had given him and, instantly, the teller gave him the approval and a date of arrival to his address. Matt was so excited that he turned to Mr. Harding and thanked him again. As Matt walked out of the store, he came upon the two that he had pushed together, handcuffed and resisting as they were forced into the back of the police van. He had not put the sirens that he heard together until now, they were headed here. Matt had been the one to stop them, and now no one noticed him. He thought no more about it.

As Matt was walking to work this morning, it had started to rain. He began to wish he had taken his car but knew that getting out of the parking lot on the way home would take longer than the walk. When he got to the doors of the office building, he saw Larry jogging up out of the rain. Hey, Larry, coming over this weekend?

You having a party, Matt, at your place? Me and the lady were going to the club to watch the game. You know they’ll have the mid show on there.

I ordered the mid game special and I invited Cindy over.

Oh, you did. Well, you know most of the office will be at the club?

Sure, I know. I just wanted to have a small group over.

Hey, I heard you put in for an outside journalist.

Not just an outside journalist but a roamer journalist.

What? Wow, that would put you in some of the no man’s lands.

Yeah, and don’t say anything, but I have it from good source that Harding himself wants to interview me.

Harding! That would put you in the upper A group, Matt.

No kidding. And that is exactly what I want.

Well, good luck on that one.

    Seriously, Larry?

See you at chow hall, big man.

Matt watched as Larry split off and headed down the hall. As he watched him disappear around one of the cubicles, he thought to himself out loud, That is why Larry will always be in the mail room.

Matt had made it to his small square of the fifth floor. His floor dealt with most of the news editorials and piece articles. Matt would even do research and assist in the writing of some articles. If the truth be known, as he believed Mr. Harding did, a lot of the articles were rewritten by Matt himself. Two of the articles he had completely reworked had gotten high recognition from Elite Society Watchers. The Elite Society Watchers did just that, watched over the people to ensure the right things were taking place, as well as what they read to go along with what they deemed as correct. Whether the stories were true or not, the society kept watch on all aspects of media from the local papers, TV, and even what came out in books of all kinds, keeping track of what was displayed to the public. Matt was completely devoted to what the society believed and checked with them often for updates and revisions. He was a dedicated and active member of society, believing people needed to be watched over and accounted for. This is why he had applied for the roamer journalist job. Matt felt he was ready to go out and make himself known, writing about those who the society deemed nonconformist. He knew he could get great recognition exposing many of these types of groups. He had even written about them, although he had never really met any of those groups. Matt didn’t feel it was lying if what he wrote fit the mold of the society. He did, however, get great satisfaction from exposing what he felt was downgrading the society and its interests. Matt had remembered when he was young that the whole world was in chaos, and society was rampant with murder and mayhem. He was much more comfortable with the way things had turned out after the war. Matt was pondering all this when a man and a woman he had never seen before approached his square. The woman spoke first. You are Matt Kemp?

Her stern and straightforward voice startled Matt at first. He turned to answer. Yes, I am Matt Kemp.

Could you please confirm that, Mr. Kemp?

The lady held out a hand scanner for Matt. Matt put his right hand on the scanner and, instantly, the results were
