About this ebook

The Song of Solomon has proven through the ages to be the greatest love story of all time. It depicts the love Jesus has for Israel, the church, and us as individuals. As Solomon passes through Shulam, he stays long enough to pursue and eventually propose to a girl who has suffered great rejection from her peers. His love qualifies her to be the wife of a king and demonstrates through these chapters just how the love of Jesus has qualified us all if we will only accept his offer. Join me and take a front-row seat as we see Solomon choose the Shulamite and then see the Shulamite choose Solomon. The transformation of the Shulamite becomes ours as well if we accept his offer of love and marriage.

    About the Author

    Introduction

The Lord led me to study the Song of Solomon years ago after being asked to speak at my first conference. I was quite unfamiliar with this Song, but upon delving into this book, I soon discovered the reasons it would become my favorite book in the Bible.

It is a love story that depicts the love Jesus has for Israel, the church, and us individually. It also reveals the sacrifice Jesus would make to reconcile us to the Father. I have come to believe the Song of Solomon is the greatest love story of all time. Come with me and let us hear our Savior tell us, You are all fair, my beloved. There is no spot in you.

Then was I in his eyes as one that found favor. (Song of Solomon 8:10 KJV)

    Chapter 1

There was a simmering uproar throughout our village. Rumors were spreading of an impending visit of our King Solomon. Indeed, our town offered no obvious enticements to warrant such a visit. We boasted of no exceptional spices, no embroidered fabrics, no significant deposits of gold or silver. It was true we had vineyards. However, there were multiple places more renowned for their vineyards and their wines than ours. Therefore, the rumor of his coming to visit our town of Shulam remained puzzling. Yet the excitement of the possibility would not leave. On the contrary, it hovered.

I forced my thoughts to return to a more mundane and practical state. Our time, that of both me and the other girls my age, was soon approaching when one of the men in the village would propose marriage to each of us. Our options were limited as our village was small. If happiness and love were not a guarantee, then perhaps we could find some comfort in the routine of raising a family.

But today felt different. The air seemed to be filled with electricity. Debra, my closest friend, had gone into the city for any new information concerning the king's visit and other circulating news. Her motto was "An informed person was
