Strengths Of A Leader

About this ebook
One look at today's church, and it becomes obvious that our culture is influencing the church more than the church is influencing our culture. It has been said everything rises and falls on leadership. Too many in leadership, whether it's fear of being labeled irrelevant, out of touch, bigoted, intolerant or not walking in love have caved to the clamoring of this present godless culture. There is too much weight given to trends and statistics for church growth rather than prayer and getting before God for His plan. As leaders, we cannot expect those we lead to rise above this present culture if we in the pulpits have not done so. A leader must be the example he desires to see in his church, in his leadership and/or organization. Instead of depending on trends and stats on how to grow our churches or ministries, we must allow God to confirm His word with signs and wonders. People are hungry for the power of God in demonstration. The Apostle Paul said he didn't come preaching with eloquence but rather came with the power and demonstration of the Word of God. It's time to allow the power and demonstration of God's Word back in our churches. To do that, we must get back to the undeniable truths of the Word of God. God will confirm His word not some watered down version of it. It is time for Christian leaders in all areas of life to once again stand strong on the immovable principles of the Word of God. The tried and true principles of the Word of God will never change with the winds of what is "popular" or what's "accepted" by the majority. God honors His word. As leaders, when we become immovable in His word, we will once again become the church that influences our culture. We have a world to reach. Let's raise the standard among church leadership.

Today more than ever before, the body of Christ is looking for Godly leaders. Unfortunately, in many places they find playboys instead of prophets, man pleasers instead of God pleasers and those who are only will to march to the cadence creeds of man-made religiosity instead of the clarion call of the Lord of hosts.
The Strengths of a Leader provides fuel for those who are burning with zeal for God in the midst of a complacent and corrupt generation. May this revelation continue to unfold in the lives of every leader and become a reality in the body of Christ.

Cecy, you have hit the ball out of the park. Strengths of A Leader is a home run! Your book provides the method of operation, the motivation to go do it and a sense of mission and purpose for anyone called to lead in the Church today. You have accurately laid out a much-needed blueprint on what Godly leadership is and what a Godly leader does. Your work in the ministry is the mark of a leader and I appreciate your example.

In her book, The Strengths of a Leader, Cecy Zeis makes it plain! In a time when many want to be called a leader but few want to serve, the truths of this book are more important than ever.
This book will help potential leaders understand that it’s not about accolades, name, notoriety or spotlights. But true leadership in the Body of Christ is about responsibility and sacrifice. It’s about loving and serving others.
It will also help those already in positions of Christian leadership to regain their focus on what is important. It reminds leaders that titles and positions do not elevate one to an elitist level of no accountability but rather, puts one in a position where more accountability is required.
Better leaders produce better believers. And if you want to be the best leader you can be and encourage more effective growth in the lives of those you lead, this book is for you!
It is my honor to enthusiastically endorse Cecy Zeis’ book and recommend reading for you and every leader you know.

Leadership was once a characteristic that was mentored in the Body of Christ. Today very few leaders who have been mentored can be found. The Strengths of a Leader is written from deep wells of a mentored experience, which has taken place directly from the trenches of tough yet victorious battles. In this book, Cecy Zeis, provides a very clear map with a lot of guidance to those seeking to take their place in a leadership capacity. If you aspire in any way towards leadership role in the Body of Christ or in a local church, this book is a must read.

I have found this book, The Strengths of a Leader to be both refreshing and practical. Once of the great needs in the Body of Christ today is for Godly leadership to come to the forefront of the church. I especially enjoyed reading in this book about the practical traits of a leader. In the first chapter of this book the author addresses that a leader lives and leads with purpose. The chapters that follow all have distinguishing characteristics of leaders that are so important today. A leader faithful, a servant, submissive, accountable and resists strife. A leader continues to grow and a leader is a person of integrity and character. The last characteristic is they do not compromise. A leader goes above and beyond that is why they are in leadership. This book does an outstanding job of articulating these basic characteristics of leadership. This book has great practical value today as these characteristics of leadership are valid in every age and generation of the church. I would highly recommend the reading of this book by leaders both in and outside the church. The greatest benefit of this book is the practical value offered within its pages.

Inspirational lessons coming a place of faith and spoken by her own example of leadership! The Strength of A Leader does a fabulous job taking Biblical principles and converting them into real leadership advice for your life. Through practical application of the concepts you can become more inspired to face everyday leadership challenges. It’s like having a spiritual adviser by your side. I strongly recommend this book.

Today there seems to be a leadership void and failures in all levels of society including the Church. I enjoyed reading The Strengths of a Leader by Cecy Zeis because it majors on what real leadership is based on and that is proven Godly character. There are many gifted and talented people in leadership positions but it is only character that will take them the distance to finish their race. Cecy has really done an excellent job highlighting this in Strengths of A Leader and this would be a good read for any current or potential leader.

Today the modern church is struggling in her mission to impact the culture for Christ. Our failure to accomplish the Great Commission cannot be attributed to the lack of leadership principals or Church growth strategies but I believe that it is the absence of true leaders that have left us flailing in the dark. The Strengths of a Leader by Cecy Zeis turns on the light and does more than talk about leadership. This book creates leaders! Cecy, uses the plumb line of the Word of God to build every reader into Biblical leaders and she does it with power and conviction because her life matches her message. This book is a must read for every believer. It has transformed my life and ministry and it will yours too.

Cecy Zeis has extensive experience on the front lines of Christian ministry. She has served in leadership and has seen examples of good and, just as importantly, bad leadership during that time. And she’s obviously and correctly reached the conclusion that godly leaders are effective leaders. In The Strengths of a Leader she exhaustively applies the counsel of God’s Word to the practice of leadership, to excellent effect and offers contemporary application to demonstration that His way is best. Anyone aspiring to influence others in a ministry context or as an outgrowth of his or her life roles, would do well to study the principles Ms. Zeis has laid out in this book and set about applying them.

Cecy has done an outstanding job in addressing the areas of leadership that need a great change in ministry. She has some very strong statements such as, If we stop growing, we stop leading; the way we do things may change but the principles we live from never do; you can teach what you know but you will always impart what you are.
These among many others wakes up the reader. Her choice of scriptures and person stories all work together to validate her point.
The day of the declining priesthood will come to an end when we go back to God’s original patter of the servant leader. Cecy’s burden to see godly leadership restored in the Body of Christ is passionately expressed in The Strengths of a Leader and invokes all leaders to a life of righteousness and integrity.

If I spent twenty years of my life in Columbus, Ohio just for the purpose of enrolling in Cecy Zeis’ classes, while I was a student at World Harvest Bible College/Valor Christian College, it has been worth every day! Much of what I learned from her teachings I am applying to my life today. Cecy Zeis’ book, The Strengths of a Leader is one that is difficult to put down. It is definitely a must read for anyone who senses the Lord’s sovereign call to serve in ministry. After reading this book, I have a greater desire to press forward and fulfill all that God has called me to do! Readers will understand that we all have strengths and weaknesses but more importantly how to rely upon God’s grace in and through all things. After reading the book, leaders will respond to God’s leading to the next level in their personal walk with Him and in ministry!

Introduction
The idea of being a leader leaves many people excusing themselves from leadership because of what they deem to be inadequacies, weaknesses, or failures in their lives. Others excuse themselves from the accountability of the lifestyle and characteristics of a leader because they are not called to full-time ministry.
In our attempt to teach the difference between someone called to minister behind the pulpit as a vocation and someone not called in that capacity, we have forgotten that we are all called to full-time ministry. All believers have been given the ministry of reconciliation and are called to a lifestyle that reflects the principles of God’s Word.
There was a time when our image of a leader was birthed out of the superhero
mentality we read about or watched on television. When we would think of a leader, the image often conjured up was of a man—tall, good-looking, intelligent, fearless in the face of danger, with no failures in his life. Maybe we have watched too many movies with action heroes who saved the day. There was a time when the standards to which leaders were held were irreproachable. People demanded their leaders be men and women of integrity and honesty, keeping their vows and promises, and that their lifestyle be the same whether in the presence of those they are leading or not. Today is much different. In fact, since I first wrote this book, the standard of church leadership has fallen in the name of God’s grace.
It used to be that leaders set the standard for those in the church to follow. Today, you can’t tell the difference between those leading and those following.
Because of the ever-blurring lines between absolute right and wrong, and of sin and truth, leaders are exempting themselves from the life style and characteristics that makes a leader a leader. Instead of holding
