Preface
Aerosols, Carbon, and Stupidity
I am a ninety-three-year-old, long-since retired engineer, geophysicist, corporate executive with a tremendous love of nature. I spent the 1930 depression years hunting, fishing and gathering food for our family.
The nuts, fruits, berries, greens, frogs, fish, quail, dove, turkey, and wild hogs were plentiful, and with my mother’s canning and corn bread, we had excellent meals all year-round. I developed a great respect for mother nature
and all the great outdoors and have continued to hunt and fish my entire life. I have never been able to be an environmentalist although I treasure everything in nature. There is such a thing as a natural resource
and all life on earth is entitled to compete for these resources for food and fuel. Man, as the only smart creature on earth, should manage these resources. The most critical resource is carbon and man has a history of polluting the environment when using carbon as a fuel. The EPA has been very effective eliminating the pollution from carbon fuels and in 1990 turned its attention global warming. Since trying to deal with global warming, the EPA has exacerbated the problem. I have a file full of notes taken over the last thirty years, and this book is from those notes. The first section is an organized agglomeration of the notes which gives an overview of the problem. This is followed historical facts, common experiences, common learning, and physics. I hope you can relate to everything in the book.
Chapter 1
Agglomeration of My File Notes
UN Secretary-General has called climate change the most important issue we face
and wants a vast reduction in carbon emissions. This is typical of environmentalist who spread misinformation for their own purposes. They attribute global warming mainly to CO2 when in fact a substance cannot cause warming. To warm something requires heat. Global warming is a major problem, and it will not be solved with the present approach which only makes the problem worse. We need to see where the heat is coming from. The globe being heated is a planet. But not just any planet. We are on planet Earth, and we are the only planet in the entire universe with life; I think we are special. The term world is used to describe our place, with life, water, and everything on the planet. Our world has everything known to man. Our world is the greatest part of the universe.
To say something is warming implies that you are able to measure its temperature accurately. Today, our scientists have thousands of fixed designated locations around the world to measure temperatures. Each measurement is separately manipulated, compared to previous years measurements, corrected, and then entered in the average for the rest of the world. I have absolutely no confidence in this determination of world temperature if for no other reason, the locations of the readings have remained mostly constant for many years while the earth wobbles on its axis.
The Earth rotates every twenty-four hours about an axis going through its North and South Poles. This axis of rotation moves around so the geographic location of the Poles moves around. This has been going on forever. This is sometimes referred to as the Earth’s wobble. Several times during the long, long history of the Earth, this wobble was so violent that Earth flipped on its axis with the North and South Poles trading places. A total flip today would destroy
