This is the true story of one child and the choices she made that brought her to the place she is at today. It is unique to this one child, yet each child is unique, with their own special story to tell. I have determined that this story should be told in the hope of helping others to follow a path of light, which will lead them to inner peace, love, and happiness.

Sonja Skillingstad
When they first met, he was drawn to her charming sweetness and gentle manner, not, of course, knowing of her other side. She was separated in spirit and not entirely aware of her darker side, which lay smoldering just below the surface. When it was discovered that she was with child, she fell into a state of panic. What would people say? And she cried out to him to make it right. He did not desire to wed at this juncture in his life but chose to do the proper thing, hence they were married. A child was born, and they named her Sonja. The mother was born with only her right arm. The left arm was missing just below the elbow joint.
As the little soul moved downwards into denser and denser levels of vibration, to move toward and merge with the body that had been prepared for her, she felt more and more weighed down until, all of a sudden, she found herself floating above one who was suffering much. She felt quite concerned for the women crying out in anguish and rushed about in her soul self to find someone to help. She went to the man but sensed that he could not help, then she went back to the women. Suddenly, she heard a voice that said, Do not worry. She is giving birth to your new home.
It was a masculine voice of strength. It was then that the little soul knew, without knowing how, that another lifetime had begun. She then waited with resignation for the first breath of life to begin her new journey. When she first entered the body, it was in a high state of agitation. She felt so weighed down and uncomfortable that she soon slipped into a deep sleep. The cells of the body had been used to softness and warmth, but this new environment felt cold and hard. When the little soul woke up and looked out through her eyes, she knew that it was up to her to help her new body and make things better.
The first memory I have related to my mother was when I was yet an infant unable to roll over. The memory that preceded my mother's appearance was of being in the body but not in the physical sense. I saw myself as a young woman dressed as I would later dress in the fifties. I was standing, and there were two others, much shorter than myself, so I could not see them clearly. They were running, saying, Hurry. Hurry! She's coming.
I ran after them and then saw them climb a sort of ladder and disappear through the top of the head. As I went to climb after them, there was a loud voice that said, If you leave, she will die.
I then hung my head in resignation and turned back. It was at this time that I saw my mother. She looked very angry because I had been crying.
The infant was yet quite uncomfortable in her new environment. The little soul felt the same for she and the body were now one. She sensed that she needed to learn a better way, lest she should be left to suffer helplessly. When nourishment and comfort came, resting close to her mother's breast, the infant slipped into a deep sleep for much rest was required at this early stage of the baby's development.
The little soul was also in need of rest for this energy was very different from what she was used to. As the days drifted by, all was peaceful, while the body grew stronger and the soul grew more accustomed to her new home. Then one fateful day, the crying of the infant demanding nourishment caused something inside of the mother to shift. The mother felt protective of her newborn, for it is nature's way, but resented the time and effort required to care for her new offspring. When she was an infant, her mother resented her, hence she believed that this is to be expected and did not feel wrong about her resentment toward her new baby. What she did not understand is that within her also lived another. A beast that was her strength and protector. The beast will surface whenever the body is uncomfortable, demanding that his or her needs be met. It is up to the soul to take charge of the beast and raise it up to do her bid. At this early stage, however, both the baby and the soul needed nurturing and rest. It is the mother's place to provide this until all becomes stable. The soul will then be better able to begin her task of taming the beast. The mother allowed her anger to grow more and more toward the baby, believing it to be the cause of all her problems. If it were not for Sonja, she would be free to move about, so she allowed her thoughts to dwell on negative rather than positive thoughts about her baby. She was very careful that the man would not see what she was feeling for he was happy with the baby and felt no resentment. The women was feeling overwhelmed with her responsibilities as a new wife and mother. She was not comfortable with his family for she sensed that she was resented just as when she was a child by her own family. She knew that the absence of her left forearm and hand made it far more difficult to do tasks that others did with ease. She grew more and more uncomfortable with herself, so she began to dwell on the absence of the baby, making a difference.
As her thoughts travelled into this area of escape, she began to fantasize about what she could do to be rid of the problem. The sounds of the baby's cries of hunger grew more and more demanding. The mother was angry. She did not want to nurse the baby, yet the crying was hurting her ears. The beast within was feeling the mother's anger and felt very uncomfortable with the noise as well. Then a shift. Now it was the beast, not the soul, that was in control. In a rage, it ran into the room, seized the infant, and placed it to her breast. The crying subsided, and the baby fed. The beast thought, What can I do to be free?
and slowly, a plan began to emerge. If I place her in a drawer and close it, I will not hear her cries.
For many days thereafter, when the baby cried and the sounds triggered the beast, she was placed in a drawer until the crying ceased. She was then placed back in her bed. The beast knew that no one must know, most especially the part of herself that would come back when he subsided for she would never agree to such a thing.
As the days went by, the man noticed that the baby was not gaining weight and was very quiet. He felt that something was wrong, so he and the woman took the baby to see his sister, who was a nurse. It was then determined that since the baby was not receiving nourishment, there must be something wrong with the milk. The baby was then placed on a formula, and hence her life was saved.
The sister sensed that something was wrong yet carried this within, knowing that the man would never accept it.
One day, when the beast was up front, he decided to wrap the baby in gauze. After wrapping her, he placed her in the oven but didn't know how to turn it on and left the kitchen. Sonja was feeling very uncomfortable wrapped in the gauze and was having much trouble breathing in the darkened oven. She soon slipped into a deep sleep as her soul left the body. The soul floated up above watching and saw her mother enter the room. Seeing the table, she rushed to the oven and removed Sonja. She then removed the gauze and placed her back into her bed. As the gauze was removed from her face, Sonja was better able to breathe and her soul returned.
As the baby grew older and more active, she required a lot more attention for there were many dangers. The mother became very frustrated at the amount of time required of her for the baby was now able to crawl and the only place of safety was her crib. One day, the little soul discovered, much to her surprise, that if she leaned over the railing on her crib, she would fall over, her head moving between the railings and land sitting up. She was now free to move about and explore. Off she went, feeling very excited. Out the door and past her father, who was resting on the couch to her right side. He caught a glimpse of her and, in surprise, placed her back in her crib and then watched to see how she had gotten out. The little beast was not happy and resented his watching yet was determined to try again. Her father was overjoyed at her accomplishment and ran to tell the woman. She was less than pleased and thought to herself, Now I'll have no peace. He doesn't care about me, only about her.
The woman was careful not to let him know how she felt, yet she let it grow and fester inside. One day while she was hanging clothes out to dry, the baby woke up. She left her crib, crawled into the kitchen, and out the back door. She saw her mother hanging the clothes but was not happy being with her and decided to go the other way. She traveled what seemed to be a long distance until she came upon a shed. She pushed open the door and crawled inside. She then became worried and cried out. When she saw her mother push open the door, she felt relieved but could tell
