    God’s Gift to You

    Are You Resisting God?

This could be you! When you are about to do something and for some reason it doesn’t feel right, do you follow your instincts or just go ahead and do it? If you don’t do it, do you forget about it, or does it nag at you? Perhaps you got distracted and find yourself busy doing something else. Do you ever wonder why you aren’t interested anymore? Do you feel like you are fighting battles every day? You probably are, you don’t realize nor understand why God didn’t want you to do it in the first place. You see, God already knows your heart and knows what kind of person you will be. In this world with all the information that is thrown at you, it’s no wonder how easy people can be influenced to do something. On the other hand, the dark side is always there and trying to lead you astray from the right way—the path to the father. There is a constant fight between good and evil. In fact, a lot of times, it looks like the bad is winning. Walk around the urban down town, and look at what’s going on. Are people talking to each other or on their phones, maybe, or they’re texting, but who is listening? Sure, it’s not like this everywhere. Look at what’s on the news these days. You never see a news channel delivering steady commentary about all the good things that happened that day. Is there a reason for that?

Sometimes, God lets you do what you want hoping that you will see it leads to nowhere and that His way leads to the light. You ask yourself, what is the light? Have you ever heard the expression: you can’t keep doing the same thing and expect to get a different result? A lot of people are doing just that. They are following the herd mentality instead of doing the hard work that brings about change. Have you had something really bad happen in your life before you decided you needed some help? Maybe you went to a health professional like a therapist to start talking about your problems. Some go to church and ask God to help them. God hears and sees that as a step in the right direction, but nothing happens, does it? Do you ask yourself why? You talk to your friends, and they listen, and some offer solutions to your dilemma. You keep looking for answers because you don’t hear what you want to hear. You persist and finally find the right individual to talk to. That person understands where you are coming from because they went through the same thing. In fact, they tell you their story and what ultimately changed their life. Really, you ask, that is why your life has changed?

1 Chronicles 29:10 David’s Prayer excerpt versus 12, and 13: God is the ruler of all things and in his hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all; now our God we give you thanks and praise your glorious name. Understand God can do anything! You have to first confess to God and be baptized before your life begins to change. I’m sure you have heard someone at a New Year’s party say that one of their resolutions was to get in shape. Every year during the News Year’s celebration, thousands of people make a commitment to lose weight. The first week of the New Year, the parking lot is full, and you have a hard time finding a spot to park. A few weeks later, it gets easier to find a parking space, and by the end of the next month, the parking lot is half empty. You notice that up to this point, you have been seeing the same faces when you worked out. That is because they are committed to changing. God deserves a lifetime of commitment, and if you stay with God, He will stay with you, and your life will change for the better. A lot of people can’t do that for whatever reason. I guess the excitement wares off. Maybe it’s the pressure of daily living, not enough time, no energy at the end of the day.

There is that constant struggle to fit in. That’s why you feel that constant pull against your spirit. Yes, we are all born with a spirit. It would be fun, you only live once, right? But with God, you can live forever if you are willing to do the right thing. Ah, but that’s not so bad, it’s cool. Oh, my friends will think I’m lame, a loser, and everyone would start talking bad about me if I didn’t roll with it. So you don’t and you get further away.
